His size kept Drew Brees out of the first round of the NFL draft in 2001. At, 6-0, he didn't fit the NFL's quarterbacking prototype. Twenty years later, that too-short QB leaves the NFL as its all-time leading passer.

He actually wasn’t proving any scouts wrong until he met Sean Peyton.

Remember, he would’ve signed with the Dolphins had they wanted him, but they got scared off by his rotator cuff injury. He most likely would’ve been the same guy in MIA as he was in SD. They went with Cullpepper instead. MIA did Brees a favor.
