Leon Washington Visiting Pats Today

I was really hoping for this, but then with rumors of Cribbs I kind of forgot. Watching what Sproles does for Brees and their offense, I would love to have Washington here. He's not as good as Sproles anymore, but he's a fast, fairly elusive runner and good pass catcher. Obviously would be a big upgrade on our KR game which I'm glad BB is finally seriously addressing. Tired of Brady starting at his own 15 every drive.

One of the reasons I think Woodhead doesn't get re-signed, is because I think we will see more of Vereen this season. I think Washington will be Vereen's backup and primary KR'er if signed. I can see Vereen as a very explosive all around weapon for the Pats this year. Great hands, better than some receivers, and a shifty runner, with some slight strength. Amendola or Edelman (if he's back) will be the primary punt returners.

If we don't wind up with a deep threat, I'd like to see Amendola, Hernandez, Gronk, Edelman & Vereen all on the field at the same time. Our offense was more explosive before we lost Edelman. Add Edelman and a deep threat, and this offense would be virtually unstoppable.

Sweet. No more risking Dmac getting hurt returning kicks. One big kick return could have changed any of our last few playoff losses. I would think there would be no more room for Woodhead if they do sign him.

Does track pay anywhere close to that if you aren't a superstar?

I don't think track pays anything at all at any level... unless theres a National Track League i've never heard of or seen. I guess if you are usain bolt you can make some decent cash with endorsements.. other then him I cant even name another track star.

I had a buddy who was an Olympic-caliber track athlete like Demps and he lived pretty well. Not NFL well, but he'd hardly be on the dole either.

plus he presumably was safe from any brain damage, etc.

There are several track athletes who make a good living out of their jobs.


Would've preferred Cribbs instead of Washington.

All in all it seems they're presumably moving on from Woodhead, with all the interest about KR and dump-off RBs.
