Saw just about every corner out there last night except Bodden

Did he just get the night off?,Nursing an injury?,Protecting him from another offseason injury or just to weed out the borderline roster players at CB with more playing time?

I heard a rumor that Belichick caught him tweeting and cut both his hands off - mainly as a warning to that Twitter tyrant Chad Ocho.

He played. I wasn't watching, but Reiss said he played in subpackages early in the game.

Bodden played. Since you didn't see him much he musta did OK. He did make a decent tackle on a RB if I recall.

He was on the field early on. I don't think they ever threw at him (they barely threw at all, since Freeman was on his back within 2 seconds). That's a good thing, IMO, unlike McCourty, who we saw too much of. Definitely wasn't McCourty's best day.

Arrington held his own

I think last years time he spent on the field replacing Bodden actually will come in handy this year as he looks like he could be important down the road.

Have to admit I didnt see Bodden either but perhaps I was dancing on the table after all that pure pwnage from the D-Line.

About Arrington, he did his usual loose coverage on a WR atleast once.

Arrington looked okay, to me. He was mostly good with a couple of lapses. I have no problem with that in a #3 CB.

It'll be interesting to see how they utilize the 3 of them (McCourty, Bodden, and Arrington). Obviously McCourty will likely stick to the defensive left side. They seem to be tinkering with Bodden in the slot, which apparently he did while in Cleveland. I wonder if during the season we'll see Bodden on the right side playing cb on the first two downs, and on third down Arrington comes in at rcb with Bodden playing the slot. Obviously it'll depend on match-ups too. I wonder if they don't like Arrington in the slot as much as Bodden. Although, I thought I saw Arrington covering the slot receivers on at least one occasion.

Bodden was definitely in the game in the first quarter. They may have been trying to give Arrington more time to practice. We'll see how things look in the third preseason game with the full dress-rehearsal.

Whenever I check the tape from last year. Almost all the passes completed are on Arringtong and I got the same feeling this game when he let the WR get too much space. Combine that with a question mark on Merriweather, my fear is that secondary is the weak link.

Agreed. Every snap Arrington plays seems to make him better. The kid is a keeper.

Bodden played he was the nickel; sometimes in the slot sometimes outside. I don't want to read into it too much but it's interesting that the he didn't start. I think if they start Arrington next week then we can discuss if Arrington beat him out, but I still think he's the opening day starter.

Fundamentally, I dunno if Arrington has the athleticism to play especially tight coverage against some receivers. Still, though, he held his own as a starting CB last year after Butler went AWOL and Bodden got hurt. The fact that he was even serviceable in that role was pretty exceptional, I thought, and he should be asked to do considerably less this year if Bodden and McCourty can stay healthy. I'm not particularly worried about the secondary, personally. Brown missed at least one tackle last night, but he was otherwise pretty good, and I hope that he can contribute too.

He played in the first quarter. On first and second down he only played the nickle. My guess is to limit his reps by keeping him off the field when we didnt use a nickle. On third down he moved outside and Arrington played the nickle.

Good point. As a backup he would do ok. Lets hope we dont get many injuries on Bodden or Ras. They seem to be a bit injury prone though so lets keep our fingers crossed.

I saw that play aswell! Was definitely on the field, could be that BB wanted to see more of Arrington!

At the time he was in the game, Freeman was busy running around trying to survive. Passing to a TB WR didn't happen much

i think BB might actually be wanting to leave bodden at the slot....this way he would be able to hopefully nutralize that WR, and mcourty nutralizes his man, and then give kyle a little bit of safety help, and that way you pretty much take their top 3 WR's out of play....

or maybe not
