This is obvious but we are not a well Coached Team and it shows with those stupid back breaking penalties. We are playing Teams who are Leagues ahead of us in the Coaching department and we ain't Out Coaching them. It starts on Sunday Mike McDaniel will mop the floor up with two times Mayo. Unless Maye plays lights out I mean Throws for 250 and Run for 100 and we still might lose, we are too devoid of talent and can't overcome our mistakes. We should be in the Top 3 again at seasons end not Maye's fault.
This has been an issue dating back to the last couple of years of BB coaching the team. It's not exclusive to Mayo.

Remember Pete Carroll and Robert Kraft visiting Syracuse University to see Tebucky Jones? We picked Tebucky in R1 and he fell flat. After that RK realized that he should find someone to do the football stuff, and he should step back. Now RK is back in the foreground with his team. It will crash and burn, and then RK will fire everyone and hire one or two football professionals to run the organization and the Pats will be good again. Wolf sucks, the coaching staff sucks, but RK is the problem.
I was only 15 years old in 1998 and wasn’t able to get the intel we have access to now, so I wasn’t aware of the backstories. In addition, I only paid attention to the top picks in the draft. What was the reaction with fans and media to the Robert Edwards and the Tebucky Jones picks? I rewatched that draft recently and Mel Kiper said he thought New England was taking Fred Taylor.

I just remember watching Jones in 1998 and thinking he was too big and slow to be a CB. Him and Canty were brutal back to back 1st round picks. As Bledsoe recently said on Edelman’s podcast, “the drafts were poor”.

The press made a big deal about RK going with Carroll. Back then the source was always the coach or owner, and RK loves his spotlight. Like you said, the drafts were weak, but BB inherited some good players, and it is all about finding a QB (hint TB).

Did anyone think the Jets were going to do what they did in 1998?

Bills also came out of nowhere with Doug Flutie.

That division was really fun to watch in the mid to the late 90’s.

6 Games left? Where did the season go? I feel like I got cheated out of watching Maye in 5 games by starting Jacoby, probably why it feels like the season is going by faster than normal.

What they can accomplish/salvage is playing the young guys, let them screw up and learn, lose competitive games showing they play hard for the coach
The schedule is tough down the stretch after the Colts. This might be the last year they get a shot at a top 5 pick with Maye.

Based on reviewing various draft sites
-There were 35 guys rated as solid or better 1st rounders in 2024,
-ONLY 12 rate that in 2025
-2026 has 37 guys

Important to be as close to the top of this draft as you can to get a good player.

Also finishing last in division gives you the Raiders next year instead of the Broncos or Chargers.
