Kraft regrets giving Belichick so much power without “checks and balances” in place.

No confusion at all, it was the combination of Belichick and Brady that brought them 6 Lombardi’s, unless you believe that Seymour, Wilfork, Vrabel, Gronk and all the other great players Belichick surrounded Brady with didn’t matter?
No. I was just **** posting. You know, showing solidarity with all the other **** posting in this thread from my fellow Patsfans brothers and sisters...

Barmore and Bentley were catastrophic losses. Guy is an underrated loss as well.

Biggest of all....BB
Remember in 2004 when Troy Brown and Earthwind Moreland were playing DB. That was a catastrophic situation. We won the SB. In those days we said "next guy up," not "this is catastrophic".

We would have won 2 Superbowls that year if Ty didn't get hurt.

No comparison. Talent level on that team was the deepest of any SB champion

I have heard of the guy. IIRC he wrote for a now-defunct publication called "Sports Illustrated".

And I stand by my statement that one single Wild Card victory does not make a team "Super Bowl Contenders" no matter what the jerkoffs in the media say. But hey..... if "Dr. Z's" prediction - which ended up completely missing the target - helps you sleep at night about the '95 Browns, then more power to ya.

Absolutely no one picked the Patriots to win Super Bowl 36. According to your logic, they were not Super Bowl Contenders that year....
Your statement is trash. Now you are crapping on a dead man. Good for you.

And we have $50M in cap space left over. Maybe the Pats should have spent some money in FA to create some roster depth? That was exactly my point 3 posts ago. Why didn't we add Wilkins, Simmons, and Gilmore in FA?
Great question. Wish I knew. Either they want to carry over the $ to 2025, Wolf is afraid to spend, or was told by Hand Job Bob not to.

Looking at the 50MM claim, overthecap.com (actually $36,797,494), I’m horrified to see the numbers for Onwenu, Peppers, Barmore and Stevenson going out 4 or 5 years! Extending these BB draftees at numbers BB, I believe, would have never proposed only highlights the fact that Kraft, Inc doesn’t have the fortitude/confidence to blaze their own trail.

They would rather blame BB for the roster than remake it in new Patriot way.

OH the racist police are on duty. Let me guess, you look for racists under your pillow every night. When in doubt call someone a racist.
I have this compulsion to call racism out when I see it.

But hey - takes a certain person to be a racist and if that's you, then good on you!!!

Yep! I'm married to a Jew and they do have decent whiskeys.

...and there is such a thing as a decent kosher wine. This is especially good.

This is going to sound really stupid but I assume they contain alcohol?

It is called projection. Those that look for racists under their pillow and accuse others of racism are the actual racists. But hey, keep pretending when it is obvious. Good on you.

No I’m crapping on you for thinking a media member prediction means the Browns were “Super Bowl Contenders”.

They won 1 wild card game in 5 years. Takes a special type of idiocy to call that a Super Bowl contender. Nothing “Dr. Z” said in August of 1995 changes that.

You claimed no one thought the Browns were a contender. I stated one from a reputable sports journalist/fmr player. You were wrong. Own it.

Paul Zimmerman knew his ****. Marginalizing his commentary and knowledge to support your argument is pretty weak.

The 1994 Browns were a good team with the #1 D in the NFL and had improved going into 1995. The AFC was wide open and had a legitimate shot to go to the SB. Anyone who followed football back then knew that. You clearly didn't.

The 2018-2019s draft is where we had an opportunity to revamp a strategic plan to stay elite in the post Brady era. The draft was loaded on the offensive side of the ball those years. We held two first round picks in 2018. How in the world we ended up with Sony Michel and Isiah Wynn I will never know. How do you pass up on Lamar Jackson there? He should have been the automatic choice. Then you go Sony Michel who wasn’t even the best RB at his own college (Nick Chubb was). Not to mention you had a couple STUD highly productive WRs who fell in the first named Calvin Ridley and DJ Moore.

Then in 2019, you target the right position in a loaded WR class…and somehow you end up with the one colossal bust. I mean how do you go Harry there, over AJ Brown, Deebo, and Metcalf? AJ brown’s college tape was exponentially better than Harry’s. Metcalf was a freak, if you wanted to draft a project you go him. Deebo had Swiss Army knife written all over him, incredible versatility actually shocked BB didn’t target that type of player.

The patriots would look really good today as contenders if we drafted lamar Jackson with those weapons. Didnt even have to trade up, somehow that talent fell in the first round 2018-2019.

Poor drafting led us to where we sit today

If. If. If. WTiF.

Dr. Z. used to be on the ESPN draft coverage, back in the early 1980s when the draft was held during the day during the week. He was very knowledgeable but an absolute loon.

On the absolute loon part, I read a lot of Dr. Z’s columns during his heyday but don’t remember much of them. I do remember the only radio interview I ever heard him on. He clearly didn’t want to be there and gave one word or short answers to open ended questions. For example, the hosts asked him about the draft prospects of a standout receiver. His response was “I haven’t looked at him.” The hosts realized this was terrible radio and ended it early.

Zimmerman was also one of those HOF voters who was proud of his biases, pro and con. He said something to the effect that Ken Stabler would only get into the HOF over his dead body. When Stabler was inducted, he had already passed away and Zimmerman was either also dead or medically incapacitated to the point he couldn’t argue against him. I don’t know what his grudge was against Stabler, but it seems pretty pointless in retrospect.

You confuse your B's. You mean after Belichick and Brady made him billions...

There is no Brady without Belichick.

and because two things can be true at the same time...

There is no Belichick without Brady.

Without either one of them, Bob doesn't make his extra billions that winning Championships bring.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

So dear readers,

**** off to all who walk this destructive path of one or the other.

It was Mother****ing BOTH.

for some incomprehensible reason, this seems to be a very hard thing for some to fathom.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

and apologies ahmed, that was not entirely directed at you.
My disagreement with you has nothing to do with Bill in particular. I just don't value coaching all that much because it's a fairly simple thing to do. And in this case Brady himself showed us that when he left here and immediately won a SB with Kukla, Fran and Ollie as his coaches, while Bill stumbled his way to losing season after losing season here.

Unfortunately, Bill compounded our problems by dumping some all-time greats on offense with three of them winning 4 SB rings on other teams right after they left here. It doesn't get any clearer that Brady, Gronk and Thuney didn't need Bill. He needed them.

Coaches don't win games. Players do. Even Bill knows that.
