Kraft regrets giving Belichick so much power without “checks and balances” in place.

Interesting take since the sound bite literally says checks and balances weren't in place during the most successful time of our franchise.
We had Brady then. Brady walking was largely a result of the guy who had control and no “checks and balances” having friction with Brady.

To everyone who has asked/speculated, he was on the Breakfast Club to promote the "Timeout Against Hate" campaign that he's leading.

Also, he was on the show last Friday before Maye started. So unlike the comments in here, it was not to "take a victory lap" because Maye through 3 TDs or anything like that.

Apparently Kraft is full of ****.

Checks and balances is just BS line. It sounds good but it was never needed. One 4-13 season and not having it suddenly becomes cause to fire BB.
You really think it was because of one 4-13 season?

We have the worst roster in the league.

So? Brady doesn't win without a strong roster. They had a strong one until they didn't.

No question Bill wasn't perfect and he made a lot of mistakes that Tom covered up which were exposed the last three years but for God's Sake move on.
Absolutely. I can accept that BB made some mistakes, maybe even big ones. It's Bob's team, his call to hire and fire whomever he wants, none of my business, but does he have to be so damned graceless about it? What's the point?

He’s right. People can ***** and whine about him saying it now, but it was a major problem.

-only one coach in the league would be allowed to let the best player in franchise history walk in free agency for absolutely nothing.

-only one coach in the league would be allowed to let Matt Patricia be the OC.

-only one GM would have gotten away that long with as many awful drafts as he has.

Belichick got freedom and without a certain QB to put makeup over it, he proved he was wrong and Kraft looked like an idiot for letting Bill do it.
Did the need checks and balances from 2000-2021? No.

From 2022 and last year. Hell yea.

Exactly. Bill absolutely lost his fastball and made galactically stupid decisions the last few years that were the causation for this franchise's demise.

Why go out of your way to call that out? Bitter and insecure..

Moving this to a new reply since it got missed from the quote:

One of my personal rules, a lesson well learned from life experience - if I believe I hold the high ground I should damned well match it with the corresponding level of decorum. I wish others like Kraft could see that.

And its not just this one time after 8 months. its been always ongoing and his team is also empowered to say it now like mayo today and wolf with the hard ass vibe comments

The funny thing is that he says Bill had all the control yet he somehow wants to get equal credit for the dynasty. Which is which Krafty?
Did he also not say it was a mutual parting with BB? Now he says he fired BB? Which is it Krafty? He has my head in a spin.
Also says he wanted to do it in a "classy way" which was called the mutual parting and now calling it firing. Way to be classy.

Whatever the reason it was not enough to get rid of the man who gave you 6 rings

He just can't help himself. Little man. All that money and power and he still needs to continue to demean Bill.

I think i'm now a RKK detractor. Hes up there with John Henry and Jeremy Jacobs now. Congratulations.

RKK is a piece of ****.

Kraft giving up the no franchise tag facilitated it happening quicker. Kraft felt he owed it to Brady not to play hard ball and that was his choice not Bills.

No, its really not.

No dysfunction? Have you been watching the games at all? They have been a visual depiction of the definition of dysfunction
Continuing to say things are ok by comparing this team to one that got a coach who won 6 super bowls fired is laughable. Between the players signed, resigned and drafted this is a team owned by Mayo and Wolf. The play on the field can be explained as part of a new coach's learning curve. The dynamic with the players has been more troubling to me. Blaming the players for losses, Judon, Reagor, WR mutiny, etc. do not make it seem like the team is a well oiled machine who loves their coaches. Starting with RKK, these guys better not **** up the opportunity that is Drake Maye.

I think he in a sad way is realizing what a **** move his letting him go looks like. Yeah things could have been done way better and could have probably been stopped a few years before the firing. They should have told him he no longer has the same control as Hitler and gm duties will be done by someone else when he brought in Cam due to him not having a backup plan. Being here so long, they should have had a contingency plan in the works for the past 10 years for Brady. BK is trying to show somehow he wasn't the bad guy etc *cough ******** in this situation. I find it hard to believe they had nothing in the works to stop what was happening from happening. And who in their right mind gives someone like BB total control? I wonder, though, did he have one job title and got paid according to what he did, or did no titles mean he didn't get paid for doing the other jobs.....IE only got paid for HC and not GM. As much as I love BK, he needs to stop trying to make himself look better because 1 it's not working and 2 it makes him guiltier looking. If he truly wants to be enshrined with zero or not much bad ****....he may want to have J Kraft do it for him by pumping Dad up once he dies. He needs to let the team suck for a while all the while spending to cap, donating $ to even more charities and his own if that's possible and it should take care of itself. He just draws more attention to himself and it reminds people of our dominance of more than 20 years and people cannot let that go.

I really hope he was not the one who made the call; regardless of it working out.

Obviously he was. Otherwise why wait until the Texans game? The Miami or Jacksonville game make much more sense. RK panicked before the Texans home game after fans started wearing paper bags last week in Cleveland and the Pats resale tickets for Miami hit $40 on the resale market. This has nothing to do with the past management or coaching. When Kraft said he hated losing that was an obvious play since his team is 1 - 5. RK is trying to cover for his decision to start D Maye - look at me, look at me. It is so obvious, why can't you see it?
