2nd NFL with 23 PD

IMO he is CB we should priorities signing. He is big physical and played in the heavy blitz scheme of Pittsburg. He isn't afraid to come up and make a tackle as he was in on 71 total tackles in 2012 . He hasn't missed a game in 2 seasons as starter and appears to be just coming into his own.

Most important he isn't going to break the bank we will have the money to go out and sign a Greg Toler as well.

In short with this player we get a player just coming into his own who doesn't have a name that is going to be over paid for.

Seems kind of risky for a guy who has had 1 great season and the rest were mediocre at best. Tough call right there.

Right, how exactly do we know this guy isn't a one year wonder?

What everyone else said. Body of work isn't that substantial, so that's always a risk.

Like I said, I want him. He'll probably be a cheaper solution as well.

First year as a starter last year

23 PD- 1 less than Sherman
QBs only completed 52 percent against him
Only allowed 3 TD

McCourty put up elite CB stats his first year as a starter. Then the next year he was the worst corner in the league.

FYI Greg Bedard says the Patriots are interested in him. FWIW

Yeah, but didn't we switch from zone coverage to man coverage in McCourty's second year? Isn't McCourty more of a zone corner? Or am I mistaken?

You're correct, but it may also have to do with decreasing quality of play from safeties.

I'd rather get Carnell Lake to be the Pats' secondary coach, than sign any of the players he's developed.

So if Lewis doesn't do it for you and say Redskins decide to overpay for Talib.

Still need 3-4 CBs. And probably 2 of these guys for this secondary to see vast improvement.

Rogers-Cromartie
Sean Smith
Derek Cox
Antoine Cason
Chris Houston
Cary Williams
Brent Grimes

There are two CBs on the roster right now. Dennard & Dowling and who knows what Dennard's availability is going to be for training camp and maybe even the start of the season. And Dowling ya I have him already marked down for a season ending injury and before that being the 4th or 5th CB on the depth chart.

Bill goes and resigns Arrington and signs 2 other JAG CBs. You better hope they get Goldson, Delmas or Phillips to play along side McCourty and then take Banks, Trufant or Rhodes if one of them is there at #29 and which ever one is taken comes in and just outright wins the #1 CB spot and just is a beast of a player.

Or it's gonna be another season of head shaking and swears at the play of the secondary.

Would rather they make a run at someone like Keenan Lewis than Mike Jenkins, Terrance Newman or DeAngelo Hall

1 year of production with 0 picks. I'd take him for cheap, which may be possible given this free agent environment where the supply is much greater than demand.

Awesome/wah would be a good vet pickup imo.
