NE players and coaches come out of the tunnel fired up about the opportunity for a little retribution for last year's playoff debacle. NE receives the opening KO and it is clear that they are the more focused and determined team before the first offensive snap is taken. Some solid running by the two headed monster and crisp passing by Brady to his obviously more comfortable WRs and TEs get NE into the red zone within 3 minutes. From there, Denver makes a mild stand, forcing the Patriots into a 33 yard field goal. Goastkowski lines up, determined not to make the same mistake, but, like a golfer thinking too much about not making a mistake, he actually psyches himself out and the kick is blocked with ease.

On the very next play, Plummer tosses a short pass to Rod Smith. NE subsequently misses more tackles than on this play as Smith goes 82 yards for a TD.

NE tries to keep it close, but after Gostkowsi's third blocked FG on the day is returned for a TD, the team and fans alike realize that this just isn't going to be their day.

Broncos - 38
NE - 6 (an early TD with a missed XP)

Broncos only hope of victory is if Pats have another rare day of mental errors mixed in with bad bounces and questionable officiating.

Pats 34 - Bronchitiso's 3

Clearly people aren't getting the point of the thread.

The wink was caused by the tears streaming down your face due to the knowledge that this game is already over and not a sarcastic gesture, right?

You really think that Gostkowski is going to convert two kicks? Dayum.

Or maybe you think that a Flutie signing is just a few hours away. That seems a little more realistic.

What can I say? I'm a homer.

Call me dumb.. but I think I am missing the point of this thread

enlighten me plz?

I know I'm not the only one reading this thread thinking WTF???

I'll be happy to go on record that the PATS WILL WIN THIS SUNDAY.

I know it in my heart.

I would not be surprised to see Jackson catch 2 TD's and Dillon gets 100 yards and Maroney gets 2 TD's.

This can't be the first Karma thread ever, can it?

Karma threads are about balance, since fans can be a little, shall we say...over-optimistic about their team's chances. Posts in a thread such as this one are intended to help thwart off the karmic retribution that occurs when a fanbase is too ****y.

I like these because they are fun, plus it gives me the chance to poke fun at all the issues that media and fans overreact to the previous week. If you look in other threads you will see my true feelings about this game.

Now, that said, is anyone really going to go to this bloodbath? :violent:

Oh for crying out loud.

Short answer: it's a joke.

Long answer: Karma threads.... allow you to appease the Football Gods with overblown declarations of modesty about your team, and your teams chances in the next game so that you're free to be all homerific and make bold outlandish predictions of greatness in other threads without the fear of tempting the fates. Your "karma" is covered in this thread, protection from hubris, so to speak.

I hate Karma threads... but somebody started one before the first game, we won... so being the moronic stuperstitious person I pretend to be, I was forced to start one before the second game, and now am forced to participate in one before the third game. (All the same reasons why as long as we keep winning, I'll have to do a weekly game wallpaper)

So... we make outlandish LOST prediction in karma threads?

This is the first time I've come across something like this.

Or as Foxsports put it, "...from out of nowhere a flag flies into the frame...instead of rectifying it, the officials award the Broncos the game's 1st touchdown by giving them 1st-and-goal at the 1...if you were so confident in your call, Greg Sneed, what took you so long to throw the flag?...All five members of their crew then missed a false start by Foster in Elam's 50-yard field goal that barely cleared the crossbar. So, yes the Broncos' first 10 points came gift-wrapped by a dreadful officiating crew..."

Ahhh memories. Nothing like getting this kind of help in the playoffs.

That game still makes my blood pressure rise. I know that Brady had a bad game. But we were forced into a situation where everyone knew that we were going to have to throw to catch up. There were so many blown calls in that game. And after the Pitt/Indy debacle, the SB became the most obviously fixed game in recent memory.

Actually, the list is much, much longer.

1) Davis is takled by his face mask with no call on NE's first FG drive.

2) Brady is hit at least two times in ways that should have earned roughing penalties

3, 4) The two that you pointed out

5) Bailey's touch-back that wasn't

6) Troy Brown being interfered with on his muffed punt

If that had been in the SB, or any other team been victimized with that laundry list of calls/non-calls, message boards across the planet would have been crashing within minutes after the game. NE did not play well enough to win, but the officiating was ridiculous.
