Here's the 18,000 fine hit from the Denver game on Newton. Yeah, I can see why Goodell fined the Squirrel 8 thousand MORE....yup...clear as day...
Good point. On Inside The NFL they posed the question does Cam Newton get treated differently when it comes to helmet to helmet hits. The real question should have been do the Broncos get treated differently when it comes to their helmet to the face hits.
There should only be a fine if it was a finable offense, which this was not. This is grossly unfair. Patriots players should never be fined, unless everyone else in the league is fined first.
Spot on.
People are being a homer if they don't think that contact was a little high. It was definitely at least in the neck area. It's close to a blindside hit but open to debate. He's hit him from the front in my view...not the side or from behind...so it's tough to call it a blindside hit (even if he was heading back towards our end line). Doesn't help himself with the way he launches thoug.
Personally though I've got no issue with the hit, but I see why the fine has been issues. There's no conspiracy here!!!
It wasn't even close to a blindside hit. Buchanon was looking right at him..
Um no. That is not how it works at all. Each infraction has its own set fine amount.
Huh? how can you say that when these fines vary down to odd # of dollars
And he has a good basis for him to appeal...he was fined more than any other Broncos player. Darian Stewart was fined $18,231 and LB Brandon Marshall was fined $24,309. Both players deliberately administered helmet to helmet hits on Cam Newton; Marshall even left his feet on his dirty hit.
Just goes to show that some teams are looked upon more favorably by Goodell and his sycophants.
These numbers are minimums. The list of fines says $24,309 for first offence. Nowhere on list of fines is there anything for 26K.
PS: $18,231 is the fine amt for roughing the passer
Yes, that is why Edelman has appealed. The amount should be a question. There should only be a fine if it was a finable offense, which this was not.
The amount should be zero.Yes, that is why Edelman has appealed. The amount should be a question.
