Patriots Player Departure Josh Gordon Stepping Away?

It's possible. Based on his history, though, what do you think is more likely: That scenario or he used something he knew would get him banned? I think the odds are on the latter and assumed as much in my post. That being said, nobody knows for sure and I prefer you to be right over me.

Regards,
Chris
No doubt that the most likely situation is he simply failed a test or was caught using a substance, etc. However, it’s just something I wanted to point out considering what his girlfriend was saying, what Josh himself said, and the wording of what the NFL said. None of the above have ever said anything about actually using substances... one says adultery, one says mental health, one says failure to abide by terms of conditional reinstatement. Maybe I’m a crackpot conspiracy theorist but it all just strikes me as a bit odd.

Welcome to the NFL, the oligarchy’s playpen.

"Violating terms of reinstatement" could mean quite a few things, but likely isn't the terminology they'd use for what would otherwise be a "failed drug test". Like some have speculated, perhaps he missed a test? Or missed some mandatory therapy?
I dunna know man. I'm not judging Josh. Just trying to figure out the timeline. This sucks.

Again with the assumption it was weed, please site a source for that because I can't find a reputable one anywhere.

There's no source needed in my opinion. The guy clearly has issues. Is it addiction, mental or whatever? Who knows but it's sad to see a young guy who has the talent to set himself up for the rest of his life throw multiple opportunities away. He's fighting something and to dismiss it as some kind of act of immaturity is ridiculous.

I really don’t know anything about him. It’s just very hard for me to think that someone could willingly do this to himself over and over again unless they were driven very hard in that direction.

I just have some serious rachmones for this guy, I guess.
Well I think there are many sad, sad stories like this that are exactly what you are thinking and are tortured people.
There are also people out there that just have screwed up priorities and make stupid decisions because they value living in the moment.

I'm 25 and suffer from OCD. Actual OCD.

Everyday is a fight. Sometimes I lose that fight. I don't see it as immaturity. I can sorta relate to Gordon, however hes way worse off than me.

I feel bad for Josh Gordon but as far as the Patriots it actually gives me hope. It might explain what has been eating away at the team mentally.

The Patriots always surprise people when they are counted out.

The media will have them dead and buried by Sunday. And THAT is when they are most dangerous.

What if the issues IS immaturity and impulse control?
It would look exactly like it does.

I agree there. Truth be told, every day is a fight for everyone in on way or another and we all lose on some days. Someone said we don’t fight against the flesh but against principalities and powers. Lot of truth to
It

Exactly. Knowing Gordon has dealt with publicly acknowledged mental health issues, but not knowing what exactly he was suspended for, dismissing this as just another irresponsible "But Then I got High" weed moment is beyond just being mentally lazy, it is dismissive of another human being's struggle to the point of bordering on malicious. I can knuckle drag on some issues with the best/worst of them and I've never been accused of being overly enlightened but I've had painful up close experience with what mental illness driven addiction can do to someone.

I respect you and your opinion as well. But we don’t know that.
Are you saying every kid that smokes a lot of weed has demons?
I mean there are many people out there who want to do what they want to do and fight having any type of discipline.
There is a guy in my company who is very talented but failing because instead of working he likes to chit chat about non work stuff, focuses his morning on ordering lunch and is going to ruin his career. Should we look for demons?
Many people in Gordon’s age group consider weed an enjoyable habit not a means to escape a demon.

Given some of his other antics, such as staying away from camp because he had a child custody case pending suggest to me that it’s not demons but priorities, discipline and accountability.
I recognize that many drug addicts/users are self medicating other seeker issues but it just doesn’t seem to be the case here.
I totally accept that none of us really know but that’s my opinion.
Josh is very articulate and upfront about his issues. I can relate to Josh, his trials and tribulations, from the addiction side. There is a lot to overcome from within, maybe something is missing in his life.

I was lucky that no one in my family really knew and I was never a “black sheep” for the problems I had, and trouble I’d gotten into, only a couple close friends had a partial idea to the extent of it. I hit a point where I needed to abstain and that was it, only because I found what I needed in life, and wasn’t strong enough to stop before.

I couldn’t imagine how much more difficult it would have been to overcome, facing shame and having an ugly label attached. It was my issue and I got to sort it out on my own, thankfully. I had a loving family, oblivious to the issue, so I had a huge degree of normalcy to my life. I couldn’t imagine having to sort through an addiction being in the media’s fishbowl with national attention for every moment of weakness to be used as an instrument to dismantle ones character.

The drug use is surface and it can appear careless and unprincipled. For those who get stuck in the vicious cycle of a substance, it is because it fills an emptiness, it quiets a voice, it calms the nerves, it warms the cold. Negative consequence is secondary, a deeper issue festers beyond facade of enjoyable habit. Some unfortunately are unable to clear that issue, and you see it take away a job, a home, loving family, until it takes away the last thing it can. It’s a cruel mother****er that some cannot escape with time left.

Some of you are really upset at Gordon when you should be upset at the team for letting the position get to a point where they had to roll the dice on him.

This team didn't have a shot this year with him anyway. Too many massive, glaring holes. The type of holes that do you in when the postseason comes around.
With Gordon, I had faith he could have made a game changing catch or play come postseason. I had faith we had an outside shot at an afccg. I think we're done officially now. We're the Patriots doesn't mean anything. We're a 10-6 team who imo might not even be that good.

The cupboard is empty too. I’m not seeing any free agent or unsigned guys anywhere who could possibly hope to replace him. Dorset actually looked kind of good before

Whatever the reason (route running, hands, whatever) it is pretty apparent Brady and Dorsett just haven't been able to get on the same page. At this point it may just be necessary to simplify his route tree to just a step above all go routes and toss a few a game at him to keep D's honest and take the top off a touch.

I had similar thoughts. There’s something not right with the situation but you could line him up and just use the speed he has. Can’t hurt
