This may have been discussed already, but do you think BB purposefully sat Jonas last year knowing full well he wasn't going to keep Rid and Shane this year? To keep him hungry.

Jonas Gray from all reports seemed to be a tad immature.. BB had a little tete a tete with Jonas

C'mon man!

Jonas Gray had a monster game, then was late to practice. That doesn't sit well with BB, and they had JUST re-signed Blount so he had another option. Easy way to tell the kid, "Look, you're expendable. Don't let one game against the Colts go to your head."

He did the same thing with Butler this off-season by sitting him during OTA's. Don't get a big head because of one game/moment. Now, Butler is starting where Gray was sitting most of last season, so that's either a sign that Butler took the criticism better than Gray did, or BB simply doesn't have a Blount-level replacement at CB for Butler.

It wasn't discussed already but only because the thread premise is a bit on the ridiculous side.

I think Butler is on a whole different level as a CB than those guys are at RB, and CBs are highly sought-after commodities. We have many Blount-level replacements at CB on the current roster.

There are too many crazy theories on why Jonas Gray didn't get more starts after the Colts game. Belichick seems to really like going with the safe bet at RB (in this case, Blount). BB started Antowain Smith and BJGE for a total of 5 seasons. He didn't do that because they were quality RBs, he did it because they were consistent and steady.

I'm still quite surprised they didn't draft another RB this year. I really liked Johnson from Northern Iowa. You'd think someone as obsessed with versatility as BB would covet a RB who can both run and catch effectively, but we really haven't had anyone like that. Maroney could've been.

Nahh

He had a monster game vs the Colts, was on the cover of SI, then let the fame get to his head. He was late to practice cuz he met up with a hooker, woke up late, and got his car towed. Which is a complete NO NO to BB, then took to twitter and vented.

There's no coach in any sport that knows how to put a player in his place like BB. Gray head got to big, got benched and basically watched his team win the championship.

Yep. If he's learned his lesson, though, he needs to be kept on the team. He's a punishing back and you can never have too many of those in a RBBC approach.

Probably not. I think you are over thinking it.

I should clarify. When I said "Blount-level" replacement, I meant more that they don't have someone at CB that can immediately step in and match production, which is something they did have when Gray was having his issues.

Him and Blount make a great 1-2 punch. I dunno, nothing against Blount, but I like Gray a lil bit more. He's made the most out of his opportunities.
