Never listen to the political show on WEEI in the 6-10 slot, but yesterday got in the car and it was already on 103.7 and Tom Curran was on, so decided to give it a shot. I am not sure if Dennis is playing for the ratings or just busting b's, but was amazed by his comments about the demise of this team. I was in and out, but he said some really bizarre stuff..we have a running back who cannot cut to the left...we have one wr...no kicking game...if Brady goes down we are screwed..as I have not listened to this segment in a long time, was really surprised at the Borgesesque rhetoric being spewed, of course their loyal followers all came in and agreed with him.

Curran was his normal kool aid drinking self, provided a lot of insight into what he believes as do many of us, but was no match for the tag team of Dennis and the ass clown Meterperell. Continue to be surprised how this show gets such high ratings, cannot imagine who follows them and believes what they say.

I never listen as well..but what did Curran say??? Yes the old D/C..I listen for a few minutes, wish to puke and move on. Even Mike and Mike are better...

Curran just towed the line, he believes there is a plan and everything is ok, he was talked over a lot by the other two loudmouths...Dennis was begging the issue why Vinateri left and that the Pats did not match the offer(they did not have a chance to), how they screwed up the Givens deal and did not make a similar offer to big playoff man Willie.. Curran was the voice of reason when he was allowed to speak, but it was a surreal experience.

Those shows, especially D and C (which I never listen to), are scripted. In their programming meeting they decide who's going to take which side of the subject and fight about it.

Very surprising TC was on early...I really like him..yes..the voice of reason..

WEEI's demise may be imminent. Well, they could take a major hit at least. If the Red Sox complete their deal with WBOS, WEEI will take a big hit for sure. Perhaps some people will even get the axe. (We can only hope).

Is that you, Curran?

Interesting, I can see how "towed the line" could make sense, but the expression is "toed the line" as in putting your toes on the line in a military lineup. It means following the rules.

Wow, well thankyou for that wonderful and insightful correction. I too was confused. Was it towed or toed???? I dont know???? what should I do??

Thanks to whoever did his part in the reclamation of written English. Yes, it's toed the line, and about 90% of people out there don't even know it.

Also:

The present tense of "death by inhalation of water" is drown. The past tense is drowned. There is no such word as drowneded.

Nothing is ever "very unique." It's either unique or it is not. Similarly, nothing is "more unique" than something else.

Different from, not different than (the editorial ban on this one must have been released in the last 5 years or so, during which a distinct uptick in "different than" has appeared in print.)

The player can run fast, cut, and catch, and is only 27 years old.
Not:
The player can run fast, cut, catch, and is only 27 years old.
(See above for our recent rash of faulty parellelism.)

The Jets suck, not:
The Jets are rebuilding.

The Dolphins suck, not:
The Dolphins' offseason moves position them to win the AFC East, and march virtually unopposed to Super Bowl XLI, like Sherman marching to Atlanta.

Well right now we don't have much of kicking game...unless you believe in Limp-atica. Of course I expect that to change before the 1st regular season game. Also the fact is we ARE screwed if Brady goes down for an extended period- that's not being pessemistic that's just being a realist.

I don't see a huge demise in this team but you have to admit they continue to have huge holes that need to be filled by effective players. I would hope one would not be banished from Patriot Nation for simply acknowledging the elephant in the room.

As far as only having one proven WR with the departure of Givens- I think that too is a valid observation for now (that too may change after the draft and/or before next season).

BTW Are the only radio hosts who deserve high ratings those who rubber stamp everything the Pats do (or do not do)? I don't agree with everything they have to say but there has to be some objective analysis or do you want to listen to pom-pom Smerlas 24/7?

I believe, and you should too! Why is everyone so convinced that because this Pro Bowl kicker was injured recently, now that he's strong again he is permanently an incompetent loser who will kick the way he did during his injuries? It boggles my mind.

WEEI should not need to rubber stamp the Patriots' moves, but it would be nice if they talked about them once in a while. I'll never forget tuning in the day after the last Patriots Super Bowl win, and they were talking about the Red Sox.

O agree..EEI SHOULD talk more football Patriots..but with Sox interests..they won't..it's like a sports show that you can ONLY talk about certain sports..which is why I despise EEI so much. Dale/Holley are fine..I can listen to them because they talk about all sports...and with a bit more knowledge..DC??? They are hardly knowledgeable..talk about things in an extreme way to provoke..and are to me basically no nothings. In depth talk?? Go somewhere else..Just EEI to do that after a SB win..Everyone knows that teh Sox control the station...so with that..I just turn the dial...and I think ALL sports fans should.
