I cannot recall; did this happen before or after Neil Armstrong landed on the moon?

  • Going back 20 years, the Jets QB "Eras" are:
  1. Chad Pennington
  2. Kellen Clemens
  3. Brett Favre
  4. Mark Sanchez
  5. Geno Smith
  6. Ryan Fitzpatrick
  7. Josh McCown
  8. Sam Darnold
  9. Zach Wilson
  10. Aaron Rodgers
    Justin Fields
Man, what a show!

Man, what a show!

A couple of those QBs had hall of fame careers. 4 of them had at least one good season as a starter. I think only in the case of Pennington can you say that the “good season” or “great career” happened as a member of the Jets. Pennington was drafted in 2000, so that makes it a quarter century of futility at QB and it doesn’t get better if you go back further.

He gone:

The team released the four-time MVP, as expected, and the 41-year-old quarterback can now join another team as a free agent for the first time in his career - if he stills intends to play a 21st NFL season.

While the team didn´t announce the move, which was a formality, it appeared on the league's transaction wire early Thursday morning.

As a result, the Jets absorbed a $49m dead money charge by cutting Rodgers, but are able to spread that over two years instead of one - $14m this year and $35m next year - by designating him a post-June 1 cut.

So da Jete have Justin Fields as QB1 and either take a $50M hit this year too, or take most of it next season just when they need to be looking for a new QB.

Seems like the thing to do is to tank, but will the fans and the elderly owner put up with what will be another two more years of sucking, or will he fire everyone like he normally does and make it even more years of sucking?

They had a decent thing going for a couple years. They were being held back by the QB though. They go all in on the wrong guy and it's over.

That has to be one of the biggest catastrophic builds of all time.

What other teams in any of the sports climbed to fairly legitimate chance at a title to having it crumble so fast and so far? (Without actually even at least getting close)

I don't see us on that list.
Sure we are - James B. Orthwein was reincarnated and actually moved the team to St. Louis this time, that’s the 2055, 2057 and 2072 championships.

Good news for Jets fans. According to AI, their Super Bowl drought will only last another 35 years. Although the Toronto North Stars and the Mexico City Aztecs are going to win a Super Bowl before them.

Huh, i guess the pats never win another super bowl.......this is a jete suck thread, not a patriots suck thread.

They've taken three big swings in a row and they've all been misses. Darnold, Wilson and Rodgers.

I think the Wilson miss was the biggest one. Second pick of the 2021 draft was a swing and a miss. The sad part for them (and for us too) was there were no good QBs in the class of 2021. Had fate been different and given da Jete a decent starting QB that season (never mind one worthy of the 2nd pick), their entire path would be quite different. They had a good haul of high draft picks from the Jamaal Adams trade and from sucking, but the wiff on Wilson led them to reach for Rodgers and now Fields and the window is pretty much closed.

The Messy Bacon pick (11th in 2020) was a pretty big wiff too, IMO. If they get a decent starting LT out of that pick then maybe Zach Wilson doesn't get happy feet so bad, or maybe Rodgers doesn't get wiped on in game 1 two seasons ago.

Yet all of this was pre-ordained because da Jete Suck!

AI is still broken. I like how the UFL and WLAF teams are winning before the Jets.

At +16000, the New Jersey Jete are No. 27 in the league in terms of Super Bowl-winning odds as of March 22. That is a 0.6-percent chance of winning the league title. Betting $100 on them now could net $16,000 if the impossible happens.

By contrast, the Patriots are No. 23 at +8000, a 1.2-percent chance. In other words, New England is twice as likely as the Jete to go all the way this coming season.

Random question: if you've seen stories about Florida's Desmond Watson (464 pounds!). . . . Didn't the JEST sign a guy like him as an UDFA only for him to not even make it through even a single practice?

Desmond Watson needs to go to the NFC East. I want to see someone turn him into a tush push defender.

The Florida coaching staff did Watson dirty. When he came into school under Dan Mullen he was 385lbs. They just let the kid eat whatever he wanted and now he's 465, and he's markedly slower now.

It's too bad, the kid is insanely strong and has great quickness, and good instincts. At 380 he'd be a Gilbert Brown-type. At 465 he's not in the NFL.

I like what you did with the stats. Neither team is given a snowball's chance in hell, yet the Pats are twice as likely. Have you held public office before?
