Before Monday night’s game against the Cardinals, Jets quarterback Geno Smith admitted to being antsy about not playing, especially given the team’s struggles. On Tuesday, coach Todd Bowles brushed off Smith’s concerns.
“I don’t have any thoughts on a backup player saying anything,” Bowles told reporters on Tuesday. “They’re backups for a reason, and if they get a chance to play, they better prove themselves to be worthy of playing, regardless of who the person is.”
It makes me wonder why they bother starting G?NO!. They know who he is and they don't have him under contract next year so if he goes on a hot streak (no matter how unlikely that is) he can walk, and their cap situation means they can't keep him. They'd be better off using the rest of the season as extended try outs for Petty and then Hackenburg, but of course they're the Jets so they'll just keep playing G?NO!.Todd Bowles has a pulse on how to keep his players motivated and hungry, just like Belichick.
The Jets may have a new starting quarterback by Wednesday

My best guess is that it's just Bowels trying to save his job. If he sticks with Fitzy there will be calls for his head. If he goes with G?NO! then he'll be seen as trying to do something about the situation. If he does the right thing for the organization and starts working up Petty and Hackenburg, all he's doing is making it easier for the next coach, unless he has extraordinarily good job security. NFL is a win-now league, and every win matters, so the coach is going to do whatever he thinks might get him even one more win.Change for change's sake only. Bottom of the desperation barrel and it's only Week 7.
Something I don't understand: Gee-No! already has proven himself incapable, yet they have two other quarterbacks on the active roster nobody knows anything about. Why not give one of them a chance to suck?My best guess is that it's just Bowels trying to save his job. If he sticks with Fitzy there will be calls for his head. The Jets have a few potentially winnable games coming up versus the Browns, the Dolphins twice, and the 49ers, and they might just steal another win along the line. You never know what can happen, the Dolphins just beat the Steelers, so I bet old Bowels and team is hoping to find a way to eek out six wins and perhaps save their jobs. I doubt that will happen, it's more likely they end up with two or less wins rather than six, but the coaching staff has to make it look like they're trying to get wins instead of tanking for next year.

It's a good question. My best guess is the coaching staff things Petty and Hack suck worse than G?NO! at this point in their careers, and they want to try to get whatever wins they can get moving forward to keep their jobs.Something I don't understand: Gee-No! already has proven himself incapable, yet they have two other quarterbacks on the active roster nobody knows anything about. LOL!That is so cute...MacCagnan's mother took a photo shop class.
That's why the Jets future going forward is going to be brutal. Oh yeah, just like their past!3. Make sure you build a core of players over 30 so that when you miss the playoffs, you will also have zero talent in the pipeline and will be stuck with rotting veterans eating up cap space.
Most Jests fans have serious issues as we know. They think Geno is the future and should have started the season
