The Jets decision to hire a lifetime professional football scout in Mike Maccagnan leaves them short in the salary cap analyst department. The story here gives a good background on Maccagnan, and says they need to hire someone who can manage their cap:

Well, as much as it might be the worst possible career move a genius like Miguel Benzan could make, and his pals at patsfans.com might say he sucks from time to time, I think we should start a campaign for Miguel to get paid really big bucks to manage the Jets cap.
Look at it this way, if he does a good job we can all say we knew him when. If he screws up royally, we'll be thrilled that he stayed loyal to the Patriots and tied the Jets in knots for years to come. It's a win-win. Go for it Miguel!
