Jets and Vrabel almost happened

I’m sure Aaron Glenn loves to hear this news today, the same day he has to go to Foxboro and play the guy. “Oh good, I was the distant second option, if that, to this dude.”

That said, I don’t really believe the entirety of this very much. I’m sure the Jets DID want Vrabel badly and probably did make a desperation attempt at him, but if the Pats job wasn’t open, I doubt he would have chosen the Jets over a different franchise. I don’t know how a Jets media member could say that he would have.

That’s like your uncle at Thanksgiving saying he once met and attempted to flirt with an A-list Hollywood actress and she was definitely really into him and he was THIS CLOSE to scoring, but unfortunately another guy passed him up, but he was definitely her second choice in that town full of celebrities, trust him! He knows so!

But to Ross12's point, we should play this up as much as possible, as just another element of Pats' dominance to Jete suckage.

Did you guys hear this?

No, it did not "almost happen." Vrabel had an inside track to the Patriots -- the only job he wanted -- and used the Jete interview for intel, nothing more.

if my grandmother had balls she would almost be my grandfather

I think there was a little bit of “**** or get off the pot” message being sent to RKK as well.

Mike Vrabel played here for 8 years, made All Pro, won 3 Super Bowls and is in the team's HoF. He is now the head coach of the Pats and has not just returned the franchise to respectability but has them at the top of the conference in his 1st year. You'd think a supposed Patriots fan would spell his name correctly FFS

It's like saying you almost banged the prom queen because she was your first choice.

Didn't happen and it wasn't close.
Never hurts to have some leverage in these things.

Vrabel brough Cowden with him when Kraft already had his guys.

Speaking of no balls Tunie and Maust have arrived.

I believe there's some truth to it. I think Vrabel wanted to coach somewhere and if he was given complete control, all the better. The Jets are a team without a QB and don't have a great path to getting a good QB. Once Vrabel knew he had the same deal with the Pats and a QB, it wasn't even close.

I don’t believe it either, but . . .

Another Jet football failure.

What a shame.

Time for my favorite Jets gif.

Oh yeah.

Vrable bringing his guy Cowden was a negotiating chip.

Bruschi even confirmed that people in the Pats front office need to stand down after Vrabel was hired.

That's what complete control means. That Vrabel's in charge of personnel and Cowden is his man in personnel.
