Jakobi Meyers has thrown for a TD but has yet to catch one in the NFL

I thought that was an interesting statistic, especially given that he had a pretty good year (compared to the rest of the offense). Do you think he can be a 1k a year receiver with a competent passer?

Meyers would have been a 1k receiver this year if McDaniels would have gotten him involved earlier. He averaged 65.6 over 11 games played. That projects out to a 1,050 yard season.

With a better QB he would be a consistent 1000-1300 yard WR

Meh. There are hundreds of players who have passed through the League with TD throws and no catches.

I think he’s a good 2, odd he hasn’t caught a touchdown yet.
He's a good open field receiver, but Cam couldn't find him in tight quarters.

A team needs good open field receivers. Their contribution is easy to underestimate but I'd be willing to bet Meyers set up at least half a dozen rushing touchdowns.

Damien Harris is a 1200 yard runner if he played before October 25th. Jacobi Meyers is a 1100 yard receiver if he played before October 25th. We have 2 excellent players who McDaniels had no clue were good. They only played because Harry went on IR and Michel went on IR. It's scary that the OC has no clue who is good and who is bad, but then again this is a guy who traded up in the first round to take Tim Tebow in Denver.

When your QB is Cam, you have a better shot at scoring if you throw it to him than the other way around.

I wonder how much influence Belichick has on who plays in McDaniels' offense?

I did not realize this point. IMO he can be a 3 maybe a 2 but doubtful if he is a 1 with a throwing QB. In comparison we have Harry, my whipping boy, he should be let go. He had Brady and Newton and can't get separation nor can he get yardage if he catches the ball. Bye Bye Harry.

I don't know how anyone can say Meyers is not a 2.

If he played the whole season as a starter he would have had 1000 yards. And that is with a trash QB and with no true #1 to take the heat off of him.

Sure he isn't Hopkins or Julio Jones.

But he is at least a 2014 Lafell.

I didn't say he was not a 2. I said he was a 3 and maybe a 2 but not a 1.

I mean when your QB throws 8 TD's over 15 games its going to be hard to spread the wealth around.

I mean Meyers only threw 6 less TD's than our starting QB.

almost 1/2 of the 8 was last game

Why? If you're hung up on pedigree and not production then Welker and Edelman also weren't #1 receivers.

.

If Harry wasn't stealing snaps early in the year he would've had a shot at 1000. This isn't always the meritocracy it is made out to be.
Meyers was hurt for the last two weeks of training camp, they eased him back into the regular season. Stop implying there's a grand Machiavellian plot where is Bill Belichick is the genius evil Bond villain out to ruin us... this isn't a soap opera.

Meyers also played all last year while Harry was hurt, Tommy didn't want rookies on the field at all and after the Brown's game had him blackballed, despite Jakobi playing pretty well for a rookie. BB wasn't afraid to play Meyers last year, his QB didn't want him.

Jakobi is a decent talent, he is young Sanu or Brandon Lafell... good in every way except inline speed. N'Keal led the team in WR TD's, Gunner had one, the majority of those came with Stidham playing. The Patriots passing attack was worst in the league because Cam is toast and Stidham has happy feet. We'll find out how good the kids can be when they get competent and consistent passing.

Meyers and Harris both came into this year banged up and were both eased in and granted minimal opportunities and gradually given greater work loads as they showed they could handle it, both becoming starters. People somehow decided this completely logical course of events is some indication that the coaching staff is sabotaging us and trying to hold the team back because they only want to win the way they want.

It's craziness.

The same people crying now because Meyers wasn't playing sooner were saying earlier in the season that the weapons (including Jakobi) had no talent... now Jakobi has talent because Cam locked onto to him for stretches at a time. lol

Gunner is an All Pro kick returner, Jakobi is good, N'Keal has a ton of untapped potential, Byrd was very good at the flanker position, the rookie TE's need experience and the entire group of "weapons" need a QB worth a damn.

Weapons don't produce in a vacuum, the Patriots were near dead last in passing attempts and almost led the league in INT's. The problem lays squarely at QB. "Talent" or a lack thereof is the laziest take in football.

You’re getting awful melodramatic over a simple fact. Harry as a first round pick has the luxury of playing to prove he sucks while Jakobi didn’t have that luxury. Jakobi had to prove he could play before he got snaps.

Melodramatic? You suggested a grand conspiracy because Jakobi wasn't playing early in the season... he was hurt.

Seriously, did you meet BB on the street and he kicked your dog or something?
