Isn't The OL Already Much Better Than In 2024?

I was pleasantly surprised that Mike Onwenu was a participant. That’s positive. My radar is out on him at the start of TC to see what shape he reports in, Goodyear blimp or professional athlete.
It's something the coaching staff will be watching too. Onemenu isn't guaranteed a spot either after last year.

Last year does not help in evaluating players. It was a mess.

I would be shocked if they cut him.
I would be...mildly surprised.

But they've brought in enough players to where he's going to have to actually compete for a job. 2021 was a long-ass time ago, and Onemenu can't coast on that anymore.

Going to be some good players cut.. as well can only carry 53 by cut down day...
Maybe One Menu is cut/traded late Aug. They save 1.5m this year and 17m next. Vrabes has not been shy about ridding the team of players from the previous regimes

Good points. Big Mike is here for 2 reasons. He's a leader and his contract.

He's a unlikely cut.

The cap is so complicated, but I'm seeing 27 million cap hit cut VS 21 million if Onwenu stays.

Next year is almost a definite rewrite or cut because they won't take a 25 million cap hit on a guard.

If Sow improves on his 2023 he absolutely makes One Menu a potl 2026 cap/trade casualty
One menu.. good one lol.. we have good depth now.. from FA and the draft and UDFA.. the pressure is on him for sure.

I like Sow too so hopefully if ownenu or strange isn't 100% he can fill In at G as well as Robinson could. We finally have some good depth on the OL.. ownenu needs to return to his all pro caliber form this season.

First, Sow has to win a roster spot, beating out Robinson or Schweitzer or Strange.

It should be noted that we no longer have any Andrews.

Yeah, I doubt he will get cut before it’s financially easier to do (26), but he’s got to be aware that he isn’t going to coast into a job this year.

I don’t think Mayo taking the team out for Pizza and ice cream after every loss helped very much.

My speculation, which is just that, speculation, is that OL coach Scott Peters’ torrent of words, overly detailed practice of ju jitsu strike points, led to Siddy Sow, normally a good guy with above average nfl measurements and athleticism, turning the phucker off.

A clean slate with the EXCELLENT Doug Marrone could very well be a game-changer for Sow.

Doug Marrone will keep it simple. With the mother of learning, repetition. Just like Dante.

Doug Marrone is the secret weapon for the 2025 New England Patriots.
Could be true in fact. We shall see

Onwenu, though he didn't play up to the contract was the teams best lineman last year. Despite being out of shape and bouncing between Tackle and Guard when he is best as a Guard. I though his last 3 full games he played were his best, he finally got into shape and was regularly at guard.

He's a quality NFL guard on this team and he is the only guy on the team you can definitively say that about.
He's not going anywhere this year unless he shows up even more out of shape and can't play.

Onwenu returning to the high caliber guard he was a couple years ago would be huge.

agree
also McD
if the scheme has the QB taking a 3 step drop and throwing the ball to open targets, the OL play will look a lot better.
