I agree the current "hook up culture" is really bad for everyone involved, but we sounds like a bunch of old men when we look down our nose at it.A woman meets up with a young student football player who’s used to getting what he wants sexually for the express purpose of having sex. There were names for females like that just a couple of generations ago.
Alcohol was also involved.
Both parties are willing participants to what used to be called debauchery. But a certain act (anal sex likely) was forced on the female. And that’s wrong. But unsurprising.
And the player looks guilty but contrite. I’m talking public relations here, not the law.
The female willingly hooked up with a young, horny guy who’s been on the pedestal of both male and female worship under the influence of alcohol. Once it gets going sex by its nature is wild.
This player will lose millions. Timing couldn’t be worse.
I remember the book by Camille Paglia Sexual Personae. She uses Dionysian, shown in the actions of both people, versus orderly Apollonian reason-based culture.
It’s inherently hard to draw boundaries in the throes of the goddess Dionysus. That’s why in the ancient world she was celebrated by wine and orgies.
We’ve come full circle. That’s why it’s important to bring in players who are old-fashioned like Drake Maye or Joe Alt. Guys with long-term girlfriends that they end up marrying.
Not guys who are playahs, which will suck away their focus and energy.
