Patriots Rumor Is Mike’s job security in any danger now? (Vrabel Allegedly Caught Kissing Russini in New Photos 6-Years Ago)

A report indicating the Patriots are potentially in the market for this player, or have expressed or plant to express interest.
This whole thing from all angles is sordid and tawdry -- the arrogant cheating couple, the sneaky photographer/profiteer, leering media outlets, morality police passing judgment -- bottom-barrel human nature on full display. Truly stomach churning.

Still, each and every person mentioned is better than the average Jete fan -- just sayin'...

The real story is why the media is so obsessed with who Mike Vrabel was ****ing 6 years ago?

There's nothing more low-IQ than discussion about what part a person has between their legs, and whom they choose to use those parts with, IMO.

Very similar to when Antonio Brown came here. He was a walking time bomb with the Steelers but none of his bs came out until he was on the Pats.

Because it was still happening a few weeks ago.

Going by the media coverage one would think that vrable and russini were on par with Princess Diana and Prince Charles. The coverage is so over the top. It's disgusting

It is over the top, for good reason.

The sex angle is a natural: they are two attractive people.

The power angle is also a natural: they both have very high profiles in their respective careers, and are/were working for two different industry leaders.

Then you add in the two different elements of scandal: marital infidelity, and presumed insider information trading.

So you have two attractive, powerful individuals having illicit sex that scandalizes both their families and their industry.

Then you add in the fact that she had the accusation from the wife from Washington and the six year old pictures.

This suggests a pattern of 'bad behavior', presumably needing a cover-up to prevent the scandal from blowing up earlier.

Why would you expect less than 'over the top' coverage?

Compared to these two people's real-world roles, who cares about two nepo-babies who cosplay as prince and princess?

I don't want to drive into the psycho social aspects of the bottom feeders that would actively search for these pics, their Jest fans
I can understand why news sites print them...money. This has gone international . In referencing the Royals I was going back to the nineties and Diana and Charles who were wildly popular, who chased relentlessly by poperszi. That I could understand, this I can't. Up till now I've barely posted on the subject. The whole thing is not that big a deal. It's between the vrables and the russinis

All that but you forgot that Russini also named her firstborn Michael. Same name as the guy she's having an affair with months earlier. Some of this stuff you couldn't even make up

I think your take is solid.

I've never been a reader of gossip magazines / web sites, but it seems I can't prevent myself from reacting when scandals are connected to the football team I've been a fan of for 40 or so years now. The reality is I had opinions throughout the Tom/Gisele divorce, the Bill/Jordon coupling, and now the Vrabel/Russini affair, and I've shared them here.

I suppose one trigger point for these things, along with the Charles/Diana thing, is they all have media machines that project idealized versions of themselves, yet when push comes to shove it turns out they aren't so high and mighty. Maybe I should be more cynical about the PR imagery, but in general I want to give people the benefit of the doubt instead of becoming a bitter cynic.

Iwa just about to add to my original post that the people who follow that story are mostly Jest fans. That explains it.

I don't want to make that kind of connection. It very well could be she has other Michaels in her family history or social circle, or she just likes the sound of the name. Or it could be she's a nut case that gets off by hiding things in plain sight.

Regardless I feel this kind of construct is disrespectful to the child, who had no control over the circumstances of his conception or his mother's choice of his name.

In the Christian framework, IMO inherited sin is pretty much an Old Testament thing, rebirth and starting anew is the New Testament approach. I'm a New Testament kind of guy. Give the kid a chance.

Jete fans are already cynics, they know anything their PR machine spits out is pure garbage. That's just one part of their culture.

I agree the kid has no blame in this.

The Patriots can manage the media storm. They've managed worse and won SB's even when TB12 began a season on a four game "vacation," as he later called it. imposed by Roger Goodell.

Beyond the media storm, this situation is simple.

Vrabel has an audience of 54 people who matter: Robert Kraft and the 53 guys in the locker-room. If he has the support of the locker room and Kraft is confident that he does, Vrabel stays. If he doesn't, he has to go.

If he stays, it plays into the Patriots' favorite mantra: "It's us against the world. Eff what anybody says."

No mediot and no one on this Board, myself included, knows how that's going to play out.

Yeah, it’s such a rare name there’s obviously some message. /s

Does anyone know if Dianna has any family history of male relatives named Michael?

EDIT TO ADD: I answered my own question. From GMU athletics web via the wayback machine:

It’s not uncommon to name children after relatives, or even friends. Heck I’m named after a WW2 service buddy of my dad. Really wish I’d gotten stories of their days together before they both died. But I’m really sure my namesake never met my mom. Funny thing is that my first name is the same as our church organist, so it did confuse people even though there was no connection.

Yeah, no one knows how that will play out over time.

Personally, right now I'm seeing him in a somewhat different light than when he was declaring his innocence, ya know, to protect his family.

Not enough to dislike him or want him gone since I'm a pretty open minded person, but enough to tickle my hypocrisy filter, and really wish he really did give us the best version of himself instead of the less-wonderful one he's now backing his way into coping to bit by bit.

I'm thinking he can still be a strong coach and team leader, but he probably has to tread carefully when he talks about character, accountability and putting the team first. That part of his messaging IMO needs to undergo a careful and thorough review, lest he create a credibility gap for himself.

No one knows what he told the team, but it seems if he hasn't done it already, his best move is to really clear the air and address what he did directly with the team, and not obliquely like he has been doing in this public appearances.

Just disappointed after his holier than thou culture talk. He could talk the talk but couldn't walk the walk. I only care about the impact on the team. Fortunately, football is a nasty game and none of them will care. Well, a few will.

Am listening to the Christopher Price / Chris Hogan podcast where they start off by talking about this topic.

My personal take away from it is that Vrabel should say he made a mistake (without getting into the details), point out that we all make mistakes, point out that it's an off-the-field situation that he is working through during the off season, say he's learned from it and he's going to be making those better decisions going forwards, still expects accountability on the field, and looks forward to the next off-season activities.

Basically admit he made a mistake but frame it as an off-the-field situation not a football one, and "we're on to Cincinnati".
