Is it me or does it feel like FA is over before it officially started?

With the knew "legal" tampering period now in effect it seems like most big names are basically (in principal) off the board before the "official" free agent period has even begun? I don't remember an off-season quite like this before.

It seems like that in the effort to stretch the football season into an all year long sport they may have miscalculated the fans and front-offices voracity for face time in the ever present 24-hour news cycle. Myself, I can't get enough and thoroughly enjoy my favorite sport being constantly in the spotlight every time I switch on the TV and browse my computer. If NFL Europe was around now it may have actually survived.

If there was some type of minor league system in place at this dead part of the season I think it would be a rousing success. The expansion possibilities are endless right now to the point where waiting for interesting news regarding our favorite pastime/team feels like forever.

What are your thoughts/ideas that could possibly make this sport even more all-encompassing?

All that has happened is that free agency has been extended backward into the 2014-2015 season by three days. I don't expect any more deals to be announced in the first 10 days this year compared to last year.

There will be plenty of players left after the first flurry of activity is over, say by March 15th, after the first 10 days (3 of legal tampering and 7 of actual fee agency).

Now it looks like Kaepernick is on the block. Potentially fascinating off-season.

Draft one player a day between the Super Bowl and June. Sounds stupid, which is why I figure goodell has thought of it.

I really want to see what happens with peterson and Murray still. Still lots of interesting storylines out there
