Player A:

Rec/Targets: 11/23
Yards/Rec: 8.6
(College: 21 TD/2727 Yds)

Player B:
6'4" 225lbs
40-time: 4.53s

Player A is Mike Williams in 2017 (drafted #7 overall), Player B is Harry in 2019. Williams went on to be a mid-tier WR, catching 10 TDs in 2018 and going for over 1000 yards in 2019.

Agree. First Williams's year in NFL was a candidate to be called a a bust. Every year he noted a progress to become not only a big red zone target for Rivers but very consistent WR.

No debating that Harry could develop into a great Wr. Problem is he wasn't ready for the NFL his first season.

The pats should have drafted the most pro ready Wr in AJ Browns when they had the GOAT at QB. With Stidham, Harry is a great guy to develop with.

Also drafting a box-out jump-ball specialist type never seemed like a good fit with Brady's style.

Another interesting comp:

The local utility company has a man who's tall, black, not particularly athletic, or fast, for his job, and not good enough to be an NFL wide receiver.

So what's your point?

I rewatched Harry's plays last year. He looked pretty good to me. He looks fast, strong, and can catch. People need to get over themselves with this guy.

Well there you go. BB didn't draft him for Brady. He was looking to life after Brady. To be fair though, he gave Brady AB. Its not BB's fault he ruined it.

The guy played a lot of snaps the second half of the year and was invisible. Show that you can get open. He has a problem getting separation. That was the major knock on him coming out the draft. His slow release off the line.

I might be off here, but I think the point was that it's too early to write off N'Keal Harry as an NFL wide receiver because Mike Williams is an example of someone with similar qualities who struggled early in his career before he started getting better.

And the film does not lie. Brady would not throw to him when he was open far too often.

Agreed. We’re trying to force Moss to happen when in reality that hasn’t been proven to win championships.

Williams also missed most of camp and the first half of his first season with an injury.

DJ Chark also had 14 catches for 174 yards and 0 TDs his rookie year before blowing up for 73/1008/8 in his second season.

Wide receivers generally don't fully break out until their third season but people have already decided Harry is a bust. He's not my favorite player but it's way too early to tell.

So you think BB mistook N'Keal for Randy? Huh? Lol no, BB drafted N'Keal for future years, not 2018. I am pretty sure BB knows rookie WRs have a tough time performing in the Pat's system. BB isn't stupid. The question is whether N'Keal will grow into it. That is the thread's point.

It’s far too early but need to see some things this coming season. Him getting 800 yards this season’s not a lot to ask for a guy that was taken in the first round.

whats with wide receivers being all named Mike Williams?

as for KH ... if he puts the work in with Stid, he will be fine... Last preseason (yeah i know, preseason) Stid and Meyers hooked up a bunch... looked like Stidham was able to develop a rapport with him... As long as there is camp and Harry stays healthy, I think he and stid will get the time needed to develop the same type of familiarity... something he was completely lacking with Brady last year... and tbh, Brady has always kinda been a **** about stuff like that

It's the fact that he's a rookie coming off of one shortened season, with the IR issue, that gives hope. The fact that some other person happens to be built like him, or runs a bit like him, means nothing. And when your defense of a player is basically "Sure, he sucked ass like a starving mosquito landing on a donkey, but look at what this other guy's done!", you've got no defense.

Harry was garbage last year. The hope is that he's much better this year. If that happens, it won't be because he got similar stats to Mike Williams as a rookie, or because he's built about the same as Mike Williams, or anything to do with Mike Williams.
