Instant Defense Rebuild

We don't even know what D we are going to play, tough to mock a rebuild without knowing that.

Not sure if you’ve heard, but Metcalf made it clear he doesn’t want to play in New England.
I most certainly did hear that. But, I've heard similar things said by players over the last few decades since FA and such trades still happen. The players get paid, and some even grow to like the team they've been sent to that they didn't want to go to. We'll see. As long as they take care of the OL and some young key additions elsewhere, and a great draft, we can get by for a year or two with a Godwin, Cooper and whoever else until we obtain via draft and or FA in the future, legit #1 and #2 young WR's. I'd even take George Pickens (as a change of scenery and this coaching staff and QB might make him a #1 (he's young and has the talent).

Draft Mason Graham
Sign Josh Sweat as UFA
Christian Barmore comes back
Christian Gonzalez takes next step

Competent DC and Vrabel

Boom
You have some questionable ideas sometimes.
This isn't half bad, however, this isn't one of those times. I think Sweat is more limited than we might think, but in a real defensive line rotation with White and Godchaux, it might fit just fine.

That's something that gets lost from last year. Of course the defensive line was bad. They were coached terribly, and they barely had 5 healthy guys all year. Keion White's snap count must have been off the charts.

I'd settle for just being 'solid' at this point.

I wouldn't keep J. Jones as he's too old and we need to see if M. Jones can be our Slot CB. I'd get Josh Sweat for EDGE/OLB, Bryce Huff on the other EDGE/OLB (or trade for Rashan Gary), trade for Quay Walker ILB/OLB (he can be had for mid-round pick(s) like Gary). Jevon Holland at FS, Alaric Jackson at LT (Rams don't have the money to tag him) and he's still young (or Ronnie Stanley as long as we come up with his replacement within 2 years). We might be able to pry Metcalf away for a 2nd rounder and another pick in next year's draft. If Godwin checks out medically, he's alongside Metcalf. I wouldn't say no to Carlton Davis II next to Gonzo), or Paulson Adebo if he clears medically. Just spitballing here.
Walker is a bit slow. Metcalf is past his prime. We are rebuilding and don't need older guys. The rest sounds good to me.

It would definitely be an improvement, but I’m not sold on Sweat. Signing Zac Baun would greatly improve the front 7.
Sweat seems pretty "mid" to me. He really benefits from the dawgs they have in the middle. That's why I wouldn't be mad if the Pats took Graham with their round 1 pick.

I would be out of Jevon Holland because he is bad in coverage and we already have Safetys that do not cover well

This is just a guess based on the titan tape I watched, I think base is going to be a 4-3 under with cover 4 in the 2ndary. I also think they will run alot of 4-2-5. When I do mock drafts that is the assumption I use.

File this name away…Smael Mondon.

Likely a 5th rounder but I think Vrabel would love gos game

I was playing around with a mock FA again and I felt like sharing. This will leave us 28.8M left, so figure about 15M for the draft class and that will leave us with 13M for incidentals. These moves would give us 72 players signed for 2025. In 2026 we would have 42 signed not counting draft classes and we would have 42.3M.

This will bring in some starters and improve the quality of our depth. I feel like this is a realistic FA period, but doubt it would happen.

You forgot Jordan Davis too. Drafting Graham and having Barmore back does not equal an instant fix. Its nowhere close. The BB Defense is now dead and the Pats will go to a four man alignment. Having Graham and Barmore is just half of the equation. They are not equivalent to Davis and Carter, which are a mountain range in the middle. There would still need to be a few more DL in the rotation. Godchaux doesn't have a good contract to cut in 2025 so he will stay. He needs replacement next year. Pharms just signed, but that deal is disposable. IMO, a 6'6" 350 run stopper and then an additional DL who can penetrate are still needed by next season.
The Patriots will be running the scheme that Vrabel and Williams ran in Tennessee Vrabel has already told local media people this. We need 2 to 3 players of impact. If you don't have edge rushers specifically from the DL then you won't be successful running any scheme. We saw this in full view last season. Pharms is just a piece in the rotation. I'm happy he got paid NFL players put thier body though the ringer to entertain us. I agree we need run stuffer.. is why I like BJ hill in the middle as well.. I also like chase young at DE.

Great research and that is a very realistic FA approach. I'd just mention that Moore is the same player as pop essentially at WR.

Remember mark Anderson?? He had like what 11 or 12 sacks one season he benefited from having vince in the middle of the DL.. sweat feels like one of those guys.. don't get me wrong he is a solid player however we don't have Jalen Carter of Milton Williams we have fashion icon Godchaux instead.

It's been reported on a few outlets that because of other concerns, they don't want to pay his 5th Year Option (and they also have an even younger and cheaper option(s) on their roster, although those players are not yet at his level (Quay is only 24 or 25 I think).
As we spoke on this a few weeks ago.. Vrabel is running a one-gap defense he and Williams ran in Tennessee. I have some family in Nashville my cousin and I always go back and fourth as he's a Titans fan. He was so jealous that we got Vrabel as HC was telling me that those guys on defense specifically Harold Landry raved about his abilities to develop and instill accountability to the players on defense. I believe Bentley is the leader for us. He's the guy that makes the calls and lines everyone up.. he's a timely blitzed and a thumper against the run. Many posters have pitched out ideas.. I say adding 2 to 3 players on defense of impact will allow the D to return to form.

Sign chase young DE
Chavaious ward or DJ Reed at CB
BJ hill at DT
Kinlaw at LB.

Draft Carter is he's there at 4.

I think Chase would come at a reasonable price too. Its sad that he just never developed at Washington. It is possible Vrabel could really fix him into a more consistent player. I like Deone Walker, Nazir Stackhouse, and Cam Jackson.

I’d actually be happy with most of their options at 4, even a trade down a few spots. Any of Hunter, Graham, Carter, and even Campbell would be good choices.

Chase was a beast at Washington remember his rookie season? he was a menace off the edge.. he got the ACL injury and it takes some time for players to recover especially when your hand in the dirt player.. I'd abs love to have him here.. a solid veteran that could bring heat off the edge.. but to your point shoring up the DL is paramount.. Vrabel will not stand for mediocrity..

With each passing day.. I feel more like we will miss out on Stanley or Jackson I think LA and Ravens will extend them.

That leaves us with taking Campbell.. how is his arm length?.
