Anyone have a view what the impact of losing our 10 year WR coach has been to Florida as an OC. I cannot assess how important position coaches are besides knowing Scar is a god. On the defense it seems not to have mattered. Then again we never developed any WRs natively over 10 years so I always wondered how good Chad was anyway. Anyone have a view on his effectiveness and impact?

Rob Gronkowski.

Gordon, Dorsett and Harry suck.

Meyers is a jag. Buffalo and NE have the worst WR groups in the playoffs.

Nobody can make chicken salad out of chicken 5hit.

Agree with all but Harry. He’s gonna be a solid player for us the next 5-10 years.

Joe Judge is the only position coach pulling double duty I believe (ST/WR) but could be wrong.

I remember bringing up O'Shea a few weeks ago thinking Judge could definitely use some help. It's been a factor for sure but we just don't have the talent at WR/TE if we're being honest. I've been harping on the TE position all year, even before we started. To me that's the biggest f up in the off season.
We knew about Gronk, knew he was close to retiring for years. Knew it was bare behind him & just didn't address it properly. Still haven't replaced Hernandez when there's no shortage of move TEs around the league. Definitely a huge priority imo going forward.

They let Gronk jerk them around. And it cost them Cook. The TE group has been a mess. It absolutely needs to be top priority in the draft.

It all starts up top. Nobody needed to tell them Gronk was close. A quick look at the depth chart tells you you're empty behind 87. Blaming Gronk is weak imo. He doesn't run or coach the team. This is on the FO.

I agree. They should have set the deadline for his decision before the start of FA and if he refused to make one just moved on / traded him to make sure to not end up empty handed. Not the ideal situation to be in but what can you do if someone else has all the leverage.

And lets not even get started on how they ignored the position in the draft. I suppose the plan was to maybe move on from the focus on TEs but that failed miserably.

Troy Brown knows the offense just as well as Chad. He’s been with the team teaching the entire season and at each game. Is Troy a good coach?

O'Shea always seemed like a good coach to me. Smart, hardworking. Don't forget in addition to coaching receivers he also led the red zone offense...

List of successful Patriots WR draft picks in the last 10 years.

(1) Julian Edelman... took 5 years to make it as WR

Yeah I don't think Chad O'Shea is an surmountable loss.

I think it hurts. Sanu, Harry,Dorsett, Meyers and obviously are Edleman are incredibly talent receives. They lose their coach and yeah of course there will be some fall out.

It's exactly like when Scarnecchia left:O suffered. Not coincidence he comes back the oline was fixed.

Exact same thing with the receivers.

Well, Gronk told them late in the process that he was retiring and it cost us Jared Cook, who wanted to be a starter. But getting a young TE is on Belichick

That's the equivalent to cherry picking one play in a blowout loss. I'm sorry but blaming Gronk is so weak it's not funny.

He's not the coach, GM or have any say in who we add. We don't need to run our plans by 87 he's just a player. A great one but blaming him is just missing the point by miles imo.

Yea even if he decided to play we should have added before this year. After him we've had little to nothing. Just really made it hard on ourselves. Surprising considering how much we value the position.

Hurt so much it was a young tight end to kill us in Gesecki I guy we all liked.

Gronk wasn't really a factor last year either as he was hurt most of the season. The holes filled just haven't worked out this year. Let's hope there is a turnaround for the playoffs as all you can rely on now is hard work.

Chad O'Shea has nothing to do with the quarterback's inability to throw a catchable pass inside the 10 yard line.
