I know this may be pointless in the next 10 minutes, but I am really hoping for the number 4 seed.

I would rather face anyone in the wildcard round, and then face the Colts in the divisional round rather then have to face the Chargers in the divisional round!

The Chargers are a matchup nightmare for us.

Besides, the Chargers are also a matchup nightmare for the Colts. I would if the Colts get past us they have to face the Chargers.

Simply put, if we don't beet the chargers in the playoffs the year the Colts won the SB, Manning would still be ringless!

Couldn't agree more. I've been saying this for the past couple of weeks. Rest the team next week, take the loss, get healthy and let Cincy go to SD (if they get out of the WC round).

i dont know....

i believe we'll be able to stifle SD's running game, and i trust our cb's against them

i think the SD game will be eaiser for us than the colts game

however, if we play SD, and beat them, its either us or the colts who win the SB

if we dont beat SD, then then theyll beat the colts and take the SB

the SB champ this season depends on who we beat, or do not beat

I don't know, I think Baltimore could make it tough for the Bengals in the WC round. Even at 4 seed, we could still go to SD in the div round.

The Chargers don't scare me,we've always had they're number.

Well, you can't control that. But you know that if you have the #3 seed, if you move on you know you are going to San Deigo. With the four seed you can still go to Indy and hope that the Bengals knock off the Chargers in a revenge game.

Personally, the way the Bengals have been playing the last three weeks, I doubt they will win in Wild Card weekend.

Be careful what what you wish for. In 2005, the Pats let the Dolphins win in week 17 to drop them to the #4 seed when they could've had the #3 seed. They ended up playing the Broncos who they lost to in the regular season and lost to them again in the playoffs.

Long story short, don't drop a game on purpose when a higher seed is up for grabs. If they play the Chargers in the second round, so what? Everybody is beatable in the NFL this season. In fact, it doesn't matter because the Pats are 1-5 against the Colts. So pick your poison.

The Bungles will be one and done this year. They strugged against the Chiefs today. The last 4/5 games they have not played like they did earlier this year. I do not see tham beating anyone in the playoffs.

we want the 3 seed at 2 seed Chargers. If the colts lose to the Bengals, the AFCCG would be at home. That is good enough reason.

Since presumably this team will have to go on the road to both SD and INDY, what does it matter what order it is in? And for some reason if the above scenario plays out, the home field would be nice.

But herein lies the mystery... I'd rather go #3 and fly to SD. I like our chances there. AND - keeping with the above quote, I have no faith the Bengals will beat Indy. BUT - can the Bengals BE beat by the Ravens, Steelers, or even Denver ? I would not be shocked (suprised a bit, but not shocked) if the Ravens were to go to Indy and beat them. Sure, they stunk today vs the Steelers, but as we've seen, division games cannot be analysed too much - stuff happens when familiar foes meet.

I would rather see if someone else can topple Indy.

Might be a moot point either way if BB treats week 17 like a bye. Anyone out there remember the Cassel "intentional" throw-away when victory could be had ?

I'd rather play the Colts, because I'd rather beat the Colts.

This is such a tough call, but I think we should aim for the 3 seed. Both Manning and Rivers can shread our defense. I think Brady will do better against SD's defense than Indy's, b'c of Mathis, Freeney, and the way their CBs swarm the ball. SD is not an intimidating environment to play in. Heck there may even be lots of Pats fans there. Plus the refs don't influence the game as much as they do in Indy.

Can you imagine how many calls Indy will get if they play Balt, who are the most undisciplined playoff team out there?

My gut says let's take our chances in SD, we are sort of in their head.

Everyone says the Chargers always beat the Colts in the playoffs, but don't the Patriots alays beat the Chargers in the playoffs? If we are going to go to the Super Bowl, we are going to have to beat both these teams, so it doesn't matter which one we face first.

If Cincy loses to the Jets next week, this discussion will be moot.

Cincy will be the #4 seed, and they'll take on the Ravens most likely, while the #3 seed Patriots play the Broncos.

Does it really matter who we play guys?

IF we play out best, we can Beat anyone. If we don't, anyone can beat us.
I say play the starters a bit next week and than REST em all.

Why does it matter when we play Indy and the chargers? TO go the Super Bowl, we will have to beat them both.

Gosh I hope we play the Broncos first round. I have this weird feeling we may play PIT. Please someone tell me this is not the case. This could get interesting guys.

A very likely scenario next week

NE beats HOU, gets the 3 seed and eliminates HOU at 8-8

PIT wins at MIA, Denver loses tiebreaker to PIT at 9-7 based on head to head, so PIT is 6 seed

PIT loses tiebreaker to BALT on division record, so BALT is 5 seed at 9-7 after beating OAK in week 17

:

So is it gonna be (6) PIT at (3) NE?
