If you were Bill, the first 3 things you would do this offseason are...?

1. Get a QB in the first round.
2. Keep our OL and secondary ( find a solution to keep our key players ).
3. Sign or draft a true NT .

sign Cris Godwin (front load contract) try and add Samuel from Panthers too
sign Hunter Henry (has to be a Patriot in 2021, BB has to do whathever it takes to convince him to join the Pats)
i prefer vet wr and TE as well but don't know the bucs cap situation, they will probably try to keep their wr core for brady but godwin would be nice
sign or trade for a solid QB (does not need to be a future HoF but should be able to throw a ****ing pass) that can bridge 2-3 years until you have drafted/developed the next young guy
i hope for a qb in the draft tbh, the vet qb don't convince me as long as we need to trade for them, don't want to give up picks for a 30+ vet qb, we need the picks for the rebuild, but definitively should sign a FA vet qb who can start
sign Romeo Okwara, Trey Hendrickson or Carl Lawson for rush help, try and get also help in IDL, if possible get a NT (perhaps via draft)
draft best player available and listen to your scouts
this is is a stud and all would be upgrades over wise i guess
btw if its the case that all 1round worthy QBs are off the board when you pick, I wouldn't mind to draft Pitts though don't think BB does that, if there is a possibility to move down in 1st with a trade and get a 2nd and a 3rd this year go for it, there are quite some holes to be filled and additional 2 (earlier) picks will help (unless you draft Safety or CB in round 2 )

Go for the best players available at the best values available at all times. Too many holes on the roster to go all in on fixing just one or two positions.

QB and a 3 Down DT are of equal need. Whether via the draft, free agency or both. At DT, I'd been looking at Jaleel Johnson, Larry Ogunjobi, Maliek Collins, and Johnathan Hankins. QB, I'd be looking at Brissette, Winston, or Sudfeld. There will probably be others, but they are just speculation at this point (Garappolo, Carr, Mariota, Mullens) What they want to do is match up their Bridge QB with similar skills to whomever they add if they don't feel Stidham is the guy. Fitzpatrick would be a guy who I think could be a good #2/#3. Certainly better than Hoyer proved.

I disagree that there are serious issues at every unit. The RB unit is extremely deep. Harris, Michel, and Taylor are excellent young players. The WR play this year has been better than they've been given credit for. It was their play that made Cam's completion % look respectable at 65.4%.

The pass protection was excellent for most of the year. The exception was when Wynn was out and the Pats put Eleumenor at LT instead of Herron. Eleumenor is a liability on the left side just as Newhouse was last season. Eleumenor is average to good at RT. Honestly, as I said in the post game thread, I felt that Thuney moving to center would be a huge upgrade over Andrews.. Andrews was abused last night.

I don't know who made the decision to put Eleumenor at LT, but he played poorly there each game. It's why I don't see the Pats bringing him back. I can see a team needing a RT shelling out decent money to add him.

I also see another team adding Andrews. As much as I love him, Thuney is just the better player. And yes, I'd pay Thuney 15-16M a year to be THE GUY of the Pats' O-Line. I believe that the run blocking and pass blocking would be significantly upgraded. I think I've seen Thuney fail to pick up a late guy once. And that was because of how Andrews called the blocking assignments.

So, Wynn-Onwenu-Thunuey-Mason-new guy, with Herron as the swing T?

This was the Nets strategy when Sean Marks became GM. The situation was much worse. He had no draft picks because Danny Ainge stole them all! He inherited one of the worst rosters in the NBA.

So Marks basically looked at his team and went about collecting as much talent as he could, including players, coaches, trainers and so on right down the line. Two years later he had a winning team that made the playoffs.

The Pats are in a better position, but could implement a more limited and targeted version of the same strategy.

1. Draft a corner or safety in the 2nd round
2. Sign an injury prone QB to the roster
3. Hit on some crazy good free agents again

1) Choose the players my scouts recommend and Not those whom Little Nicky recommends...In fact, just allow Nicky to go to Houston - he can take Skippy with him if that's what he wants - and let's see what Eliot Wolf has to offer...

2) No More Trade-Ups unless it's for a QB with whom Everyone in the building is on-board.

3) Hire more & better ass-sistant coaches and Fire our current WR & TE ones.

For starters...

1. Get two QBs. A bridge like Fitzy or Alex Smith who is great in the locker room and can mentor the second one who they need to really do their due diligence on and not just draft because Bill liked his interview.

2. Make the offense less complicated. I get you don't want to dumb it down too much because you lose being game plan specific and it takes away the power of the option routes. However there has to be some middle ground so you can draft some athletes and let them win the one on ones. You look at Pittsburgh and they just constantly rotate through one after another.

3. Get more athletic up the middle of the defense. Dugger was a good start but if you look at the better defenses they have athletic DTs and especially LBs who can cover.

3 is interesting. Idk about 2, but if Keene really sucks, you might be on to something.

I disagree with 1.

No reason why so many players come here and can’t grasp the offense. Dumb it the hell down and we might actually get some talent.

It would be nice to see the Patriots draft the highest ranked players rather
than the players that impress BB in the interviews and get drafted four rounds
too early.

it drives me nuts when bb tries to outsmart the draftniks and ends up burning high draft picks!!!

Easley and Richards for example.

he needs to check his ego at the door!

Yes, I remember the beginning of this franchise. The posters and experts were screaming for us to draft a WR (Terrell). Richard Seymour worked out fine.

IMO, Belichick's system of acquiring players is fine; it worked for 20 years. I certainly agree that the scouts should be good enough to be trusted. There are lots of players drafted and signed by Belichick. Belichick has done fine, at least according to those same experts.

That was Then; this is Now.

yup

one season under 10 wins, one season without winning the division, and the staff, coaches, scouts, and veterans should all go. We are simply used to being in the playoffs or at least tying for that final spot. Were there ANY seasons since 2001 that the team has failed?

Perhaps, it is Bill that you want to leave. Because, until he is gone, the way of building and running a team won't change much.

I know that we will reflect on this in April or May, but I wonder how many posters we'll have then. Will bandwagoners still be here? Surely some posters only follow winners. I wonder how many Bradyfans will be gone, or at least spending most of their time thinking about the Bucs.

We've had great teams/franchises in every decade since the 70's. We have had 2 franchise teams in the last two decades. We include them as one because of the presence of Brady and the coaches for both periods

1. Bring in a veteran QB like Matt Stafford or Fitzpatrick.
2. Draft a stud TE early like Penn State’s (Massachusetts boy) Pat Freiermuth. First round.
3. Acquire a 0 technique NT that we lacked with the departure of Danny Shelton. Beau Allen who?
