and if they really want to let their referees take charge of games, as they should, they'll look at expanding game day rosters

expand rosters to 50......that would let the referees actually use the ejection concept to take greater control of games

as it is now, they are handcuffed.....the rosters are tight, and if they eject players it really puts teams at a major competitive disadvantage......this is why refs are reluctant to eject players - they've actually been told to tread lightly in this regard

open the rosters and this is less of an issue......players will know the option is on the table, and the moment things get chippy, coaches can be warned......ejections follow suit

referees need to be able to take charge......a legitimate option to remove players from the contest gives them the tools they need

Theee needs to be less punishment taking players off the field, not more.

The first thing that should change is that legal hard hits aren’t a penalty/fine/suspension just because someone was injured.

the referees need to do a better job taking control of games, there needs to be less post game punishment handed out

neither hit last night that resulted in punishment was a legal hit

as it is now, players see no real punishment meted out, and they take it upon themselves to deal with it

iloka's hit was clear retaliation.....if he wanted to separate brown from the ball the helmet goes on the ball, at brown's chest......he wanted an eye for an eye, and went for the head shot

eject JuJu for the illegal hit and taunt, and that may not happen.....

Juju threw a great block. He shouldn’t have taunted.

I think it’s ridiculous to expect a violent fast paced game to never have hits that aren’t between the chest and waist. I think the level of high or low or late hits is fine and there is no need to do anything.

"if the NFL is smart" ...

Oh, wait.

While I kinda agree in principle about ejections for flagrantly deliberate illegal hits (Iloka, JuJu, Gronk) making it a "point of emphasis" puts it on the refs to determine intent on the spot for every instance of an illegal hit. That, then, opens up even more potential for abuse and manipulation (as well as "honest mistakes") that changes the outcome of games.

That makes me nervous.

If "the NFL" was truly smart, they'd go directly to the FOs of all the teams and threaten them with cap-reductions and loss of draft picks if they don't get this s**t under control internally. However, "the NFL", really, is the owners, collectively (plus Goodell and his minions). The majority of them are selfish, short-sighted, egotistical idiots who would never support such a policy

I think they need to make the NFL more like the WWE. Have refs that can also become players and help specific teams win. Also, I think all players should have female managers that are on the field with them. They should be allowed to carry suitcases filled with bricks of money to hit other players with.

I agree. I still don't see why Ju Ju Smith-Schuster received a suspension for his legal block. It's tough to tell a player that would have been a legal block if you didn't hit him 'as hard'.
