I can't wait to get the season started

if they don't stop f_king with the damn rules that's all going to change sooner then you think. I for one don't like where they are going with the game. they should have all the players sign wavers acknowledging how dangerous the game is and go back to what the rules were in the 70s back when obs were football players.

Dunno Cap'n. The fact is that we now KNOW much more about concussions, etc. than we did then. Waiver or no, it's totally irresponsible to not try to mitigate against head injuries and to hold players out once concussed. I'm FOR these restrictions.

A lesser long term health issue are the rules restricting QB hits. As "woosie" as some may appear, I'd rather see the few talented QBs playing rather than missing games and seasons. The product on the field is better with these restrictions, annoying as their interpretation can sometimes be.

I would agree that a return to the old rules allowing CBs to make contact with wideouts beyond the 5 yds from scrimmage would bring a great part of the game back. Never gonna happen as scoring and fantasy stats are too big a part of the game. The casual fans hates the low scoring defensive battles like we saw early in the BB Brady era.

I agree with you regarding the DEFENSE. We've essentially added Fletcher, Dowling, Pryor, Armstead, Benard, and Wilson. We expect to have more games from Talib and Jones this year. Belichick is out looking for a pass-rushing DE and a backup NT/DT. We will likely bring in the usual cast of defensive back competition for camp. We are also likely to draft a defensive player in the first couple of rounds. Finally, the kids will be learning and be much more experienced. This DEFENSE was #10 in points last year; it figures to be better this year.

We had a top OFFENSE. As of now, we don't have Welker, Lloyd, Branch, Edelman, Woodhead, Vollmer and Thomas. All, except Branch, were significant contributors last year. I am underwhelmed with Amendola, Jones, Svitek and Washington compared to what we had.
So, I would say that we have the main pieces back on OFFENSE.

Yes, I would feel lots better if took care of business and signed a pass-rusher, Edelman, Lloyd and Vollmer.

Problem is...every team gets to add back the good players they lost last year to IR. And every team's 2012 rookies have that needed year of experience to improve.

Yes, but we were more successful than most in securing rookies last year. And of course, some teams will get worse as they age or lose players. My point is merely that I expect our defense to improve.

no team is adding dowling..he will be injured again this year..will be no different

Reid already in mid season form.

I did recognize the sandwich Coach Reid was devouring: It almost has to be the extremely low fat, all-Veggie, lo-cal sandwich offered by Subway. Please hold the cheese and very light dressing.

Everyone is already crowning the Broncos for signing Welker (yet they conveniently ignore the dead money and the possibility of losing Dumervil because they can't use a fax machine properly) and some people are saying the Texans have passed the Patriots by signing the decrepit ed reed to an enormous contract, word is that Miami is winning the division this year because of all of their "quality" moves.... don't you just love the offseason?

Both of those are 100% false. No one has said MIA is winning division but their fans. And all of the articles i havd read have said pats still are better than texans and most think they lost more in the DB field becasue Quinn could do so much back there
