We have the WRs, we also got a first round safety/DB. I hate to see us not win another superbowl because TB gets hurt and is out for long periods of time.

Is our O line slow? can they handle blitz well?

Iam very excited for this coming season.

the cap space and FA sigining helped our offense the consistent great draft picks builded our defense.

Our O line is not slow. They intentionally draft, smaller, more athletic offensive linemen (with a few exceptions.)

OL is athletic overall..mostly the left size. they can handle the blitz.
the problem is we have a bunch of very good individuals..Mankins..Light..Koppen..Neal are all pretty good BUT in run game..they couldnt seem to get it done. maybe it was the blocking scheme or couldnt work as a unit but we have agood OL with a load of potential

Iam only scared of blitz from brady's blind side. Brady is brave, he will stand in there and throw it and take a hit. If he can see you coming at him he stands a good chance. I remember in the AFC game last year when he shook off the DE and completed a pass.

We have an above average OL, certainly worth much more than we pay them (they are good value). As far as the run game, they will change their blocking schemes this year to accomodate Maroney being the lead runner. The only issue I have is the health of the tackles. If all four are healthy, then we won't need to use any of the rooks. BTW, the line will get better each year, as they work together more. The whole starting line is signed though 2009. We even ahve a backup OT and OG signed through 2009. The final two are signed through 2008.

Did I mention that dante is a genious?

They got it done for Dillon. Maroney will need a new blocking scheme, with all that dancing.

His dancing wasn't completely because of the blocking scheme. Yes, he is more used to and suited to a zone blocking scheme, but rookies are often tentative and because they are trying to make too much happen and have yet to completely adjust to the speed of the NFL. Injuries certainly didn't help either. LaDainian Tomlinson and Stephen Jackson were accused of doing the same thing when they were new to the league and look how they turned out. Some running backs need time to adjust.

Um..Maroney actually did better

Laurence: 4.3 ypc
Dillon: 4.1 ypc

Maroney in a Dillon type of scheme(power blocking and power back plays) outdid Dillon.

He dances when things break down because he doesnt accept 1-2 yard gains.

I disagree if your point is that we should have counted on Maroney than Dillon last year to get the critical yard or two. I believe that Maroney's yards included a lot of gains of zero or one yard.

I like Maroney a lot. But we will need to change our blocking scheme for him, and we will need to chose a player with whom he can split time, this time with him getting more reps. We made a fine choice (as did the colts).

The line is above average. Our guards and center are very good. Matt Light is solid at LT although he needs help against premiere rushers. RT is a position that has the question mark. If O'Callahan steps up healthy I think it will be solved. Kaczur did not impress me so much. If anyone has broken down the film on the OL in 2006, feel free to correct me, but those are my general impressions.

It's "how good is our O-line," not "how well," unless you're talking about who has the flu the worst or something. I believe our guys are over that right now.

I think the Pats OLine is above average. Young. Tough. Pretty darned good overall.

My real answer - about as good as they're gonna be

O-line is one area especially where the Pats seem to excel at working guys in immediately (while they're cheap,) and letting them go when they get too pricey. Many of them are quietly becoming close to elite (Mankins, Koppen,) and meanwhile, other guys show up and immediately contribute (O'C.)

I look for that to continue, and sadly, of course, I expect the departures to continue too... I mean, they'll need a whole new Visa commercial pretty soon.

PS, guards are going for $7M these days. Not even pro-bowl guards. I say grow your own.

Actually Dillon got stuffed more times than Maroney which is at the line. i believe it was stats.com that said it

im not saying we should of counted on Maroney more..im just telling you that Dillon wasnt better at all really..

I think this is an area where we the fans have on the rosey glasses. Our line is good in pass protection, not so good in the running game.

I'm scanning around the league and comparing our line to others. We don't come out as much above average, IMHO.
