How many people here are nervous?

I'm always nervous in the playoffs. I'd be nervous if the Pats were somehow playing the Browns...

OF COURSE I'm nervous! But this is what NFL football is all about!

I'm trying to savor every moment and enjoy the ride with Belichick, Brady, and company!

I had a loose BM this morning but I'm not sure if it's because I'm nervous for the game or because of the enchiladas I ate last night.

Not really to be honest. If they lose, so be it.

After SB 49 I no longer get nervous. I try to keep things in perspective. If our team is in the AFCCG, I should be happy that we got another week of football and that the team is still in contention. 28 other fanbases would love to have that "problem". That posture helped me get through last year's heartbreaker in Denver. I can't imagine a healthier team at home not facing an all-time great defense will do worse, and that decimated roster was in the game until the last minute.

Sometimes I have feelings I am much more nervous than players on the field during the game. I strongly believe in our team but it is just a football. Sometimes you win, other time you have to accept the bitterness of defeat. If you do not feel nervous at all you are just "a bystander" not a real fan.

Nah, playing with house money from this point on. I didn't just want Super Bowl number 4, I NEEDED it. Now that we got it, it's all gravy. Enjoying the ride with minimum tension from here on.

If you provide more description I can help you with the determination. This is my wheelhouse.

If anything I'm overconfident. Brown and Bell will be contained - meaning both will have somewhere around 100 yards - and the rest of their offense won't step up. Meanwhile we'll put at least 400 yards on them.

How does one get nervous for something they're not participating in?

Did Bill sign some of our members?

Spock is that you? If so, let us teach you the ways of human emotion.

Pretty heavy non sequitur. Do you have kids?

Pretty much anything I care about, that I have any emotional investment in, I get nervous about the outcome of important events that its is engaging in where **** can go wrong. E.g., sports.Elections, etc..

That's a non sequitur. Do you have kids?

The OP asked if we're nervous, so my reply is on the money

You get nervous for your kids regarding the Pats?

if so, why on earth?

Not nervous. I am worried that may lose but i only get nervous when I feel it could be near a coin flip or worse. I don't feel that way this game.

The Pats should win and I am pretty confident they will. If it was at Pitt I'd be more nervous but at home I feel confident. I give the Pats 70-80% to win which is more than i could hope for in most AFCCGs.

I just don't think the Pats/Brady have 2 underwhelming weeks in a row. Either you believe the Pats D is for real or not. I believe it is mostly for real and even if not 100% for real Pitt shouldn't be the team to expose that.

If you aren't worried why watch? Every AFCG, every divisional game, every playoff game should make you worried. Every team has a chance to win, that's what makes it fun to watch.

Uh because I like the Patriots. Just not going to get myself worked up for something I have ZERO control over. If they win i'll be happy, if they lose i'll be disappointed. But, i'm never going to get nervous over a sports game that i'll be watching from my couch. You know what gets me nervous? Driving in a snow storm on slippery roads with almost no visibility, that's something that I'd get nervous about.

LOL *I'm* definitely nervous, does that count?

In all seriousness, it's weirdly sometimes more nerve-wracking to be the favorite, as there's a sense of it being expected to win (i.e. "if we lose we've really screwed up")

If it's any consolation, I'd take home field favorite nervousness over major road 'dog nervousness every day of the week

EDIT: could it be that my home field favorite nervousness is tied to Bill Cowher losing about a billion home field AFCCGs?

Its a very close call between the teams and pitts seems to be playing very well especially on defense .Worried about brady and the oline and they need to be very good for us to win. So yes I am very nervous.
I realized today that it was much better in 2004 and those times when the information was less. You could just watch the game. Now there are so many breakdown shows, articles, columns and a lot of them always show how the patriots can be beat, which makes me nervous. So yes I am very nervous because the empty feeling after losing a playoff game for the following week where you cant listen to anything is painful. I think only the time i wasnt nervous in a playoff game was when we played andrew luck's colts.

I'm always nervous prior to a big game like this, but there's nothing we can do except support our team, watch the game, and hope we come out feeling euphoric. I'll be there screaming my head off on Sunday. Go Pats!!

While that is a good example of something that should make you nervous it doesn't have to apply just to life and death situations.

After all, the definition of nervous states "easily agitated or alarmed; tending to be anxious; highly strung". Which I think is a good description of most passionate fans during the game.
