How good has Barmore been this year?

FWIW Barth and Lazar think he's playing pretty good based on their film study.

He's been pretty much invisible. I struggle to think of any memorable game he had. I was worried he wouldn't be the same after the blood clot stuff. And sad to say that so far my worry is bearing out.

Speaking of Seymour, I look at it this way: if a guy like Seymour had to fight for a new contract after all he did his previous 4 years with the Patriots, why would the Pats pay Barmore after just one good season? Very strange decision making.

Strange decision-making from Eliot Wolf? The ****ens you say...

Great points. As we know was a different GM/HC handling RKs $$$.. who loved to maximize players on thier rookie deals.. like Vince on that ridiculous 6 year rookie contract.. guy's like Seymour, Vince, ty law they didn't mince words when it came to thier contracts. Barmore got extended because of the publicity of being ranked dead last in spending was bringing to the organization. In the midst of a terrible season.

Wolf & Al Groh's kid signed Barmore to that extension, not Bill.

He’s been good, guy gets double teamed almost every play and is still in top 10 in pressures for interior linemen.

They don't have to keep Diggs, they HAVE Diggs for the rest of his productive pro life

That's assuming he is on good behavior for the duration, and we all know that isn't going to happen.

He just can't help himself. He will be in trouble again in a matter of time.

Correct, edge players usually go quick.
Always exceptions however, Chandler Jones slipped to 21.
We need all the positions you referenced. Chances of getting blue chippers at all 3 is incredibly unlikely, but do feel you have a better chance at getting a good starter level OG or LB in rd 2 or 3 than a gifted edge player.
Again, always exceptions.ty

I agree. Chandler and Barmore both slipped in the draft due to personality, not talent, issues, which played out over the years and we came to understand more. Vrabel appears to be managing Barmore, let's hope it works for Barmore's sake.

We can get a blue chip guard at the end of R1 AND release Onwenu which frees up the $$s to sign an EDGE. We can do the same in 2027 by drafting a RT in R1 and not resigning Moses. Again FA $$s are released. That strategy only works if we draft well, but finding a blue chip RT or OG at the end of R1 is viable (as opposed to EDGE or LT or even WR). Again, always exceptions.

He takes up a lot of cap and tabloid space for a guy who needs a stud DT and edge playing alongside him to shine.

I agree. I am not sure he is worth the cap hit, but we can't change that until 2027 I believe, and at that point his play may have fallen off too.

I think it was different times. Cap space was a little harder to come by and Bill was a different GM. Plus the team had less talent in 2022 than it did in 2004.

"Again" is a tad premature, need to see how this plays out legally first..

Being last in cash spending got him, rham, ownenu those deals... a " nothing to see over here" deal...

Supposedly..he is one of the top pressure rated DL in the league....

To be fair RF2, Slash did say interior DLine.
Guess it depends on what stat you look at, this one says he's #7 for pash rush win rate for IDL.

He's had a long history of getting in trouble since the day he was drafted by the Vikings.

To explain DD, I like Barmore and want him to be here not advocating for him not too. I'm just simply stating what the eye test states.. that's all.. thanks for sharing that info.. it's helpful.. as TheRainMaker stated he has the playoffs to still make a difference..

We are of the same opinion.
Barmore leaves me wanting more.
Stats are great, and I know advanced stats are all the rage nowadays, but when you watch the games you don't walk away really thinking/talking about how noticeable Barmore was. At least I don't.
Maybe he has been better than the naked eye suggests, but I get what you're saying.

Yes!! Leaves me wanting more... is exactly how I feel.. of course he's a good player as we've seen him dominate.. 2023 he was phenomenal.. we need that Barmore in order to realize maximize the potential of the defensive line.. it's the eye test.. before analytics and the NFL started keeping stats.. it's the eye test that told the story of a players effectiveness. He doe get doubled..but in 2023 he shredded double teams.. I've seen him struggling to get off single blocks..this season. However I like Barmore i even gave him the nickname beastmore in 2023. I just know his full capabilities.

???
1) Barmore is not the player he was.
2) As has been the case for 20 years, for some posters any player who isn't as good as his best year should be cut or trading for a high draft choice, especially if his reduction in talent is the result of injury or illness.
3) Barmore should be evaluated on what he can expect to contribute in 2026 and in the future next to Williams and a very good NT.
4) I see DT/DL as one of our lowest priorities to spend resources for an upgrade, although we should always be looking for upgrades. We have a top line in Williams-Barmore-Tonga. We have OK backups in Durden and Farmer. The DL priority is to re-sign Tonga.
5) We are even OK at ILB with a healthy trio of Spillane, Elliss and Gibbens. Sure, a top starter would be great, but the cap money is better spent elsewhere on the Defense: (EDGE, EDGE, SAFETY, CORNER).
