I’m just looking at his PFF grade, and yeesh. His run defense grade is terrible. A 29.8 grade, ranked 129th out of 132 for DT’a. He is still a pretty effective pass rusher, 12th most pressures in the league from a DT.

Sometimes PFF has BS grades on certain guys (Gonzo), so this could be another case of that. They’re not one to take for gospel. But usually, extremely poor grades given on their part have some correlation.

I don’t want to lose the guy, but this tells me that losing him wouldn’t be the end of the world if we get Tonga/Milton back into the fold. Definitely not to the magnitude of losing Diggs. If they don’t return, that’s another story.

He's had his moments, but overall I think it's fair to say he's been somewhat disappointing.
I think what's most disappointing is seeing how good he is at certain times, but then he kinda disappears for stretches.
He is much better with Williams beside him, let's hope they are playing together thru the postseason.

Agreed. Just that the more I look into this, losing him wouldn’t be the death knell I initially thought.

Barmore is actually high on my list of “trade in offseason if you can get solid comp”. I just have a gut feeling that all isn’t entirely well in his head and it’s a “when” not “if” he’ll have bigger legal issues.

He’s also not a game-wrecker on his own which you expect at his comp.

Very realistic possibility, but a dead cap hit of $13M.
Might be able to void the contract based on "conduct detrimental", which I believe is in all or most contracts?

Barmore was pretty solid in '23, but ever since the clot issues which was a real health scare for him, he has been wildly inconsistent, not buying in, and has shown technique regression, not finishing plays, and his liabilities (lackluster hand fighting, poor leverage) are acting up again.

While his health scare is very understandable and likely has led to him having mental issues on top of the temper he's had from the time he was at Alabama, I think that for Vrabel, who doesn't like players who can't keep their heads, the benefits just don't outweigh the risks here.

They are going to do everything they can to keep Diggs, but something has to give for the Krafts and I think it's going to be Barmore getting traded for peanuts.

So, now the Kraft's are the ones who will decide whether Barmore is a good enough DT for us in 2026?

Funny how @Real fan 02 and I got blasted for this weeks ago. I didn't need PFF to confirm this, you can tell by watching him he hasn't been the same since the blood clot. He has moments, but so does every other player in the NFL. He was frustrated in the beginning of the season because he wasn't getting to the QB which Vrabel had to tell him to not worry about it. His stats have plummeted dramatically with a better team surrounding him. Lesson learned that you never pay a player after one good season which seems to be a disturbing trend in the NFL.

Barmore is a really, really good player playing with a healthy Williams and Tonga.
Whenever you're supposedly one of highest pressure rates for DL.. at some point it has to equate to sacks or even touching QBs cleats for that matter..

No reason to cut him when Jerruh has multiple first round selections, is hell bent on fixing his defense this offseason, is all about making big splashes, doesn’t care about off field behavior, and Barmore’s contract would be very reasonable when playing like a top DT. We might have a trading partner….

Well if we could trade him for a 1st we would in a nanosecond.
But more realistically with his contract, heath and legal history, we would be lucky to get a 4th.

Rain,

You're one of the most accurate and fairest posters on here your material is usually spot on and well spoken. I felt bad initially for criticism of Barmore..but there has been enough of a sample to kind of sum up what he is as a player. Going back to him at Alabama of course you want a player at his position to have attitude and play violently.. ( on the field of course) he had temper issues and that along with injury affected his draft status. He's talented and has shown in 2023 that he could be a player of impact.
I truly am starting to feel like his days with the organization are numbered.

Remember he had another off field incident in Providence.. in theory if the "experts" are rating you as one of best defensive lineman in the NFL don't those guys usually hit, sack or touch the QB or force an errant throw? Look at autry in Houston doesn't get any of the fanfare as others at his position and all he does is dominate. He's taking advantage of having Anderson and hunter.. with Williams, Tonga, Durden up front i thought Barmore would be more effective.
