How do you stop Jimmy Graham and the Saints next week?

Just the first five yards

Just like when a team plays the Broncos, you don't stop them because you can't

BUT...You can outscore them and that is exactly what the Pats have to do

Expect a game like a 35-31 affair

I think it goes without saying that we'd all feel better about this game with last years offense.

Our D should actually be getting better except against the run and they don't run much. I personally think the solidness of Talib and the other two corners and McCourty and Gregory might help the youngsters in the backfield progress. Nothing like having confidence in your teammates to give a rookie confidence.

Why not give Fletcher and/or Collins some snaps too?

Spikes.
,,,,,,,

Spikes stands no choice against Grahm. I'd pair him up with Talib and bring a safety over the top. Sproles would need someone who can match his speed. The closest match would be Mccourty, and one of the LBs - perhaps Spikes there.

Double team him on every play and have Sproles shadowed at all times.

For starters the Patriots could go back to watch and see what Atlanta did in week one; Graham had only four receptions for 45 yards in that game. We've already seen that the Falcons aren't all that special. Though Graham did score a touchdown in the second half of that game, perhaps something could be taken away from what they did in coverage.

Actually thats not a bad idea, they had 3 guys working on graham sometimes, and they respect colston. Its one reason Lance Moore scores on them so often.
They are very good at not blitzing but folding the pocket and talking away Breeses passing lanes.

That was a two parter, but they end up on different pages.

Hit him often within five yards was what I meant

If you're referring to the recent interview all Manning really said was that he was very observant in noticing good offense around the league, and that he will take a play or two from New Orleans or New England from time to time if he thinks he can add something to it.

Basically, he probably just does what every other team in the NFL does considering that it's a copycat league and that NE and NO are 2 of the better offenses in the NFL lately.

On another note--I think your defense is much improved from past years so far, and that Rob Ryan has done a pretty good job through the first 5 games. I also think that the Saints will be all we can handle + more next Sunday in Foxborough.

The big test may come from playing 2 games in a row on the road, much like NE had to do this past week at ATL and then at CIN. In the NFL, that really can make a difference, and is really one of the bigger reasons why I even think that NE has a realistic chance this weekend. Other than that, I think they have to have very good gameplans vs Graham and Sproles, as we've consistently had problems vs other teams in regards to their TE/RB's.

If we can show improvement on offense (which shouldn't be hard measuring from today) and have a good gameplan vs Graham/Sproles that combines some pressure on Brees, then they'll have a shot. Otherwise, it may be a 10 pt NO victory. Your team is for real, and don't let anyone tell you differently. Lots of weapons...probably the clear cut second best offense in the league right now, ahead of GB and behind DEN.

Your right, but didnt it bother you a little to, lol. Colts copied some from NE.

Yeah, who would have thought , I still dont believe it… waiting for them to crumble, someone to catch the entire defense smoking, or for them to line up on the wrong side of the ball.
I rem in 2006 when SP came we were like "sweet lets go to the boys game, have a few beers and have fun" Then we started wining things, and we were like " that cant be right we have more points than they do"
In 2009 SP drafted a FG kicker, and punter 1st round, and we thought" WHO dafts kickers!, your crazy peyton" But pretty funny. I dont think we believe what was happening until game 8, lol.

So, thats our mind set now with the defense..hehe

Oh, I think NE has the best chance to win this. Our OL has not been as good as the last 6 years. We are usually #6, now #21 ! Though we have faced some pretty good DL's. Our run game is not that good. Only PT carries well. IF we just air it out we do fine, but SP wont give up the run.
I dont know how to cover all the Saints WR/TE/RB's in a passing situation. Brees is great at reading the field and someone is going to get open. Teams even have to respect Stills/Toon because they are so fast.
Id just fold the pocket without blitzing.

..and with Danny and Gronk back its going to be very very hard to keep NE off the field. Its going to be the best challenge we have ever faced I think, that I can rem………and the weather doesnt look good
But I think one of the best games of the season.

Under, since I am assuming that taking him away will be primary defensive game plan.

The Pats D usually does a good job of taking away that primary offensive weapon.

The bigger concern to me is the secondary offensive weapon, i.e., Sproles.

As a point of reference look back to the last game: the Pats wanted to limit Julio Jones, and they did a decent job of executing that plan. It was the second weapon, Tony Gonzalez, that was hurting them until they were forced to make in-game adjustments.

I agree, the last 2 teams doubled graham, so sproles, colston, stills started catching then they doubles colston and stills and graham started catching. Its a circus.

You intercept it when Brees is in trouble and just chucks it up to Graham in double and triple coverage. Other than that us and every other team is F'd.

interception doesnt always mean a win. Brees with throw faith balls, lol. He works with the recievers to catch imposible throws during off season. But if you look at the 49ers vs Saints game in 2011, youll notice something.
#1 defence VS Brees, 2 interceptions, with a total of 6 turnovers

score 32 Saints 36 49ers , on thier open field. Same happened in the seahawks game. We lost both games because of defense. Our D was horrible in open field, and made both QB's look like HOFers, lol.
As soon as Brees throws a Int hes very good at forgeting it ever happend.
He threw one to the Bucs for a pick 6. Its not going to stop him from putting it up the next time.
