Corner is a pretty thin position for us. The good news is on Final Cut down, there should be some guys that are better then what we have now
DJ James and Alex Austin late round guys who have been in the organization worked hard, and have gotten better.. no team in the league really has quality depth beyond thier Starting CBs.. we seem to have that.

I wanna see DJ James play with that same intensity through coverage snaps. Quite a few times he was in position to break up a pass and it's almost like he'd wait for the completion and then just go for the tackle.

I think it's definitely possible to address and fix. He has the tools and clearly gives Harmon-type ballhawk skills (could James be a good safety???).

He could be a real solid player if he makes that jump.

Rasual Douglas, assante Jr.. are pro bole level guys who've been FA all off season... we should be in on one of those guys.. jaire Alexander as well was available.
They are available for a reason.
Why do you think they are available?
No team wants them enough to sign them for what they’re requiring to sign.
Would you say they are worth the veterans minimum??
Depends on who. But what I think doesn’t matter. What matters is what player & agent think, as their threshold for signing. That may change as season approaches.

Obviously Douglas thinks he’s worth more than vet minimum or he’d be a Dolphin:

Agreed. Another guy who's gotten better and seems to have the starting FS role is Hawkins. A ball Hawk himself, and has had a great camp. James like Austin has improved and with more playing time have really impressed. It goes to show just how much the effect if good coaching can have for guys. Especially young unproven players.

DJ James is playing CB 101 ball. Hes keeping the play in front of him and ensuring hes not getting toasted on double moves, etc.

The confidence to jump routes will come with experience.

Hes doing just fine.

I agree. I think if he takes that next step, he'll be superb. He is within inches of the WR every time. He has some Gilly instincts, can stay with people, solid tackling technique (which is so nice to see again on this team) just needs time to become more confident. He's a 4(?) now but I feel like he has a higher ceiling.

Miles Battle needs more opportunity, to date he has been running with the backend of the roster. He looked good in the first preseason game, looked good in the final game of last season.

He big and stupid athletic… the coaches need to open their eyes and get this guy reps.

If not, he will be one of the best #5 CB's in the NFL.

Corner looks pretty good. With DJ coming out if nowhere, Battles, and Austin, the position is one of the deeper ones on the team

With the least-experienced backups on the team.

We have absolutely no proof whatsoever of that yet.

He weighed either 175 (nfl.com) or 181 (draftscout.com) a year-1/2 ago and doesn't seem to have put on much more since then. Definitely not a Safety candidate at this time. Besides, we have enough of those at the moment; it's CBs we need.

With DJ James hurting his hamstring, I am a tad worried. Battle is going to have to step up these next few days.

Who has reported on DJ’s injury, that it was a hammy? Any info on how bad? I’ve been watching for reports but haven’t seen anything.

They look better than last year, you know, improving with good coaching. I dunno. Love to see another big time CB but you can't have 53 all-pros.

They're all better than Myles Bryant.
