I think Austin has shown pretty well, but he seems to be settling in at the slot position more and more. We read Vrabel prefers big slots. Would Austin get more snaps than Marcus Jones, with Jones backing up all 3 spots?
James, Battle and Bolden are all interesting. but if Davis or Gonzo injure, I think the team needs another experienced player back there. I expect them to be active on the waiver wire

DJ James is playing CB 101 ball. Hes keeping the play in front of him and ensuring hes not getting toasted on double moves, etc.

The confidence to jump routes will come with experience.

Hes doing just fine.
I wonder why 2nd round bust Joeuan Williams couldn't do that....

We have absolutely no proof whatsoever of that yet.
Austin was a 7th rounder, DJ James I believe also a 7th... both have been on the team, working hard, the coaching has impacted them. They have been able to see more snaps on defense due to the top dogs being out.. they're taking advantage of thier opportunities.. that's all you can ask for in your depth guys..

I'll be very happily surprised if there's a vet CB cut that is better than those three, and stunned if he gets to the Pats turn on claims.

DJ James and Alex Austin late round guys who have been in the organization worked hard, and have gotten better.. no team in the league really has quality depth beyond thier Starting CBs.. we seem to have that.
I'll even go a step further and say starting CB tandem's around the league are pretty bad overall. Lot's of turnover and many no names. There's maybe a handful of CB's that are pretty good, but then there's a massive drop-off.

Absolutely correct TRM.. we have arguably the best duo in the NFL.. the potential is Absolutely there to be so..

aren't we #3
We start there, but don't we move down if we pick someone up? So only get to stay near the top for the first pickup?

Picking up someone doesn't change the order. For the first few weeks it's based on last year's records at some point it changes to the current records.

Love hearing about guys like James and Austin: who are taking advantage of the extra playing time.

I'll take that also.

No excuse not to be able to acquire a credible vet CB by no later than the day before Week 2.
Do you really think that there is someone among the 1000 players cut that could be more than Battle or Bolden?
