Hollins is the leader advertised

this season, Hollins played has played 352 offensive snaps on offense (61%) and 39 snaps on ST (17%), which in my opinion speaks to his availability, understanding of the offensive scheme, and how productive he is in all phases of the offense.

What I like the most is that he willingly does the dirty work that a lot of other players don't like doing, mostly blocking and being a decoy to split coverages. A selfless player.

At the beginning sure but he's behind Diggs, Boutte, and Pop now.

For some things, yes. For others, he's the best player on the team. I don't think there is a vertical list except for us fans.

Sure but as a receiver he's below those three. As a run blocker and STer he's probably #1

Not sure I agree. He’s not clearly below Boutte. I know, shocking I’d say that isn’t it?

Hollins has 20 catches on 23 targets. He’s ahead of both Diggs and Boutte on catch percentage, well ahead of Boutte on about the same utilization. But he’s disrespected on this board while Boutte is a favorite. Go figure. Seems Josh and Vrabes know Hollins is reliable, when they go to him he’s most likely to catch it.

Boutte says that Hollins and Diggs are just what the NE WR room needed because they are seasoned Vets who have gone to battle in the post season.

Both guys keep everyone accountable and striving to improve.

Stats are important but IMO Pop is the better WR

What situations?
There have been some big and important plays that he's made. I think there are third-down plays they would look for him, contested catches, etc. He's likely to have a better shot against taller DBs than Douglas. He might get the call while Diggs is drawing coverage, etc.

IMO he’s not.

I think that’s like saying IMO vanilla is the better flavor.

Pop is short. Hollins is not short. Pop may be quicker and more agile than Hollins. Or maybe not. Hollins may have a larger catch radius than Pop. Or maybe not. They’re different, in some situations one will be better than the other.

Both of them make important contributions to the team.

Why do you have to make one better than the other?

Just added the SNAPs to your table. I don’t think you can consider wr USEFULNESS to the O purely on catch yard production.

The other route runners on a pass play are setting up the defenders to leave gaps, running pseudo pick plays or dragging coverage away even if they don’t get a target or aren’t Drakes first choice /read even though open. Then there is the run game blocking contributions.

Anyone who would count a 30% contributor as more useful or higher on depth chart than the 2d highest at 60%; soon to be highest contributor (w Boutte out); I think has a seriously myopic view of USEFULNESS: „depth“ & „contributions.“

My own post caused me to look for something (stats) that apparently doesn’t exist….. go figure in this PFF stat-deluged world.

There is no separate stat for "NFL WR run-block win-rates" because wide receivers do not have their own distinct run-block win-rate metric
Maybe @Ian has spare time to watch hours of film & add this to his page (LOL, just kidding Ian - don’t hurt yourself).

Because I call it like I see it.

Well, that settles it, then.

More seriously, we have to think about line-ups.

Generally, they have had two outside receivers and one slot. At first, they had Diggs and Boutte outside with Douglas in the slot. But one of the changes made around the time of the Buffalo game was to move Diggs inside and play Hollins more. Douglas has flourished in the last couple of weeks, but it still looks to me like he is playing behind Diggs.

With Boutte out I wonder if they'll go to a basic line-up of Diggs and Hollins outside, Douglas in the slot again.

Last season on an off day...

I'm having trouble trying to unsee this.

Pecking order (not depth)...

1. Diggs
2. Boutte
3. Hollins
4. Douglas
5. Williams
6. Chism

And Williams could potentiality have the most receiving yards for a WR Sunday. I think Hooper and Henderson will have more yards however.

When have they had two outside receivers? Boutte is a pure outside WR. No one else on the roster is a "pure" outside WR. Everyone else is slot or all over the formation. I expect they'll do the same thing they did vs ATL. 2TEs and mix it up
