Not drafting Metcalf and Chubb was moronic and everybody knew it.

As for Chubb & Metcalf - one word - injuries. Both of those players suffered serious injuries in college. After the failed Dominique Easley experiment of 2014, you can't blame the Patriots for being a little hesitant a little over a year later with Chubb. As for Metcalf, he had a neck injury - a tricky injury to recover from. Knowing Belichick, he probably remembered Andy Katzenmoyer's career-ending neck injury.

Injuries can go both ways. A player can get over it or it can end a career before it starts.

Metcalf was a boom or bust selection. With that said, everyone knows Harry had no business going ahead of Metcalf, Samuel and Brown. Dropkick Flutie told us years before the media started saying it that Harry had some weird workout with McDaniels that sealed the deal for him.

Thinking about how the Patriots came out flat as a pancake in both Super Bowls against his beloved Giants makes me sick.

The lack of adjustments in SB42 was frustrating. The Giants kept sending the house, but the Pats kept going for the deep play. It was Deja Vu of the 2001 Pats/Rams Super Bowl. They had no business losing that game or SB46.

Michel had an extensive injury history as well. He tore his ACL in High School, had a broken shoulder blade his Freshman year, injured his ankle and fractured his forearm in an ATV accident.

No question the Patriots organization operates in a 'react', don't 'act' mentality. They're stuck in the past.

Each individual case and player is unique. Some guys are driven, and some aren't.

Yeah, I think they should abandon the memory of Easley & Katzenmoyer. Live in the present, focus on the (real) future.

He predicted 10-11 wins and said the 2023 patriots are a good football team.
This is the supposed football and patriots expert.

Many of us had the pats for 6 or less wins and 1000% knew they would be very very bad this year.
So I do not think Curran knows what he is talking about. How the he'll could he not see this train wreck coming down the tracks

And it all would have been averted had they just drafted a LT. In the first round. Jones would be ballin’ out and on his way to a big new deal, and the Patriots would be leading the division.

Statistically, they did one and only one single thing well: Rush the passer.

So, it's suicidal for McDaniels/Belichick to drop Brady with an injured ankle back to pass a million times, which they did.

It's equally as tone deaf as Perkins/Parcells doing the same with Bledsoe who never was a big time quarterback, against Reggie White et al.

I'm not saying Maroney is anywhere near C-Mart, but he did not have to be.

Winning football teams do NOT often have All-Star, HOF personnel and we've had some of those. It's how you function and play as a team.

And dropping Brady back on 4th down and long eschewing a less than 50-yard field goal is also suicidal. Treated Ghost like a bum (he wasn't).

Emotions play a major role in sports, especially professional sports where it's a business and the players are getting paid, and especially in a championship game. Even Brady couldn't make it work. The times the Patriots were eliminated during his time here, the overall vibe from the team was off. Belichick's 'respect the opponent regardless of how bad they are' approach has its advantages - and drawbacks.

Look at the team today. I know Jones & O'Brien suck, and McCourty, Folk & Meyers are gone, but if this team were fired up and engaged it'd have at least three more wins. They play in a trance. The insane double lateral in Vegas last year is indicative of that.

There have been some former players such as Damien Woody that have said there were times where talking up an opponent got out of hand to point where they'd start believing a 1-10 was actually good.
