I think I made it pretty clear that I didn't see much from this class either. Kizer is only 20 and has the physical makeup of an NFL QB. Everyone of these QB's has worts and probably more question marks than things they do well. Like I said in the original post, I am glad the Patriots are not a team in need of a QB.
Oh you did make it clear you don't like this class but I think everyone is being too generous with their grades on these QBs. I see everyone's list some of these QBs first second and third round grades and mostly I don't see how they can. I guess it depends on what you think a 2nd, 3rd and so on round QB is worth.
I guess I would ask you how you quantify your grades. I know that is a hard question to answer but it would make things clear. It would have a lot to do with what you think their potential ceiling is and your feeling they meet it or close to it. Also if they can do it instantly.
Here is how I look at QBs roughly by round grade. Obviously these are not end all be all. But it is a fairly quick view of how I would personally decide what round grade I would give a QB. Obviously a low 1st shares traits with a 2nd just as a high 4th would share traits with a 3rd.
1st - high chance to be a good franchise QB and probably ready to start quickly.
2nd - fairly high chance to be a good franchise QB but probably needs some time to develop.
3nd - so-so chance to be a decent franchise QB but will need more than a year to develop. Long term project most likely who doesn't check all the boxes (maybe short or weak arm or something)
4th - low chance to be a franchise QB but has good upside and might be a very capable career backup.
5th - low chance to be a franchise QB. Being a total bust who is out of the NFL is the most likely outcome but has some interesting tools and maybe could be something
6th-7th - very unlikely these prospects amount to anything but you feel inclined to take a shot. Never know if you will get another Tom Brady. Here just look for any reason to find a guy you believe can be something. Maybe you will be right.
