Someone saying he doesn't know if the Patriots committed the infraction at this point is a moron.

Yeah, Hurley's wishy-washy "I don’t know. You don’t know. The NFL surely doesn’t know." stance detracts from his overall argument.

He has said pretty consistently that he thinks the whole thing was a sham, so he should have a little courage and say that no tampering occurred. What's the downside, his media buddies call him a "Patriots honk?" Who cares? Those guys make predictions and definitive statements that turn out to be wrong on a regular basis, with no lasting consequences. Why the reluctance to take a positive stand on a local team, with the added bonus of being on the right said of science and logic?

Its a good article but really does anyone think pats going 3-0 bothers goodell? He got his powers affirmed by the courts and thats all he cares for. Sure some at the league offices cant stand all the winning but I doubt goodell gives a crap about this. He dragged the GOAT through mud, and even now keeps saying brady was running a scheme with this psi crap, so these wins dont erase any of it . Just my opinion.

I think as time passes Goodell and the owners are being seen more and more as petty instigators of a farcical witch hunt that had nothing to do with integrity, and everything to do with other teams gaining an unfair advantage over the Pats.

The Omissioner and his puppeteers will not be viewed kindly through the lens of history.

it also just may be a literary device to sway non-fans over to his point of view

it's easy to get us homers to agree to see BB's greatness and goodell's utter failure, but.....

RE: Do you honestly think Goody cares.

The 32 make their profits by TV contracts, selling tickets and selling merch, plus parking and other game related money makers. The more people who watch, go to games and buy merchandise, the more they make.

If every early September the 32 fan bases honestly think their team could go all the way, it will have a positive increase in all of the things mentioned above. The opposite holds true. If a team's fan base thinks their team will go 3-13, some will watch and go, but far fewer. This equates to far less money in these markets. When the Pats dominate for 15 years, it takes money out of some of the owners pockets. Those owners in particular are now pissed.

The 32 owners hold Goody's leash. If 7, 8 or more of them are pissed, Goodell's life gets less comfortable. So yes, Goodell cares. Plus he's a NJjets guy. Say no more.

This is also why The Kraft's aren't that pissed, and sided with the other 31. Their short term is all set (practically printing cash in Foxboro for years) but the long term requires the league to stay healthy financially. Like most (fortunately not all) others things, it's all about the money.
