Matt got a lot of hate here early on as a DC.

While I still don't like some of his calls he has grown on me. I still hate the fact he rushes 3 and drops 8 sometimes. I know he is trying to be unpredictable and give different looks but i never see that as effective on anything but a 3rd and 50.

Agreed, just look to the Browns, different d every year. And bill reaps mingo and sheard from their waste basket of failed coaching philosophies.

He got a lot of hate because the talent level was barely existent. VW, Mayo and a developing DMC and that's it. Once they had the 2012 draft and brought in Talib things started to turn around.

The 3/8 config is en vogue now. I'd like to see the stats for offenses when the face the 3/8

Hard to say what's attributed to him and what might be Bill's direction. Very hard to judge the coordinators here. I think McDaniels gets quite a bit of free range...granted Bill can knix anything. So Bill has to take blame for allowing anything bad to be called.
