Gronk's whining about "no-fun Patriots" is wearing thin

Gronkowski doesn't need to "resurrect" his career; He has over 70 million reasons why. He never spent a penny of his salary and lived off endorsements....no need to "reinvent" either

You misunderstand and are missing the point: "resurrect" referred to what he said three years ago about not having fun in New England; "reinvent" refers to finding new ways to be relevant publicly and draw the attention he craves.

Absolutely loved this guy as a player, he was an all-time great. But someone needs to tell him life doesn't necessarily revolve around always "having fun." Maybe coming back to Foxboro for that red jacket would be a chore too?
Gronk obviously doesn't like Bill. Gronk battled through some major injuries while playing for the Patriots and it was pretty clear he didn't feel supported by the team while rehabbing, etc. Sounds like Bill also wore on him with all the negativity. Then Bill tried to trade him to friggin Detroit before the 2018 season. I'm sure that was the last straw. Gronk basically told Bill to FO and blocked the trade, which we (and Bill) should be thankful for because we don't win that 6th title without Gronk.

Lane Johnson: "I’d much rather have fun and win a Super Bowl than be miserable and win five Super Bowls.”

The thing is, Gronk will be remembered as a SB winner. When I think back on multiple SB winners, players like Brent Jones and Jay Novacek immediately come to mind. These guys would be forgotten to history if they had merely made a few Pro Bowls. The great TEs who didn't win, like Winslow or Gonzalez, will always be remembered, but the Super Bowl winning TEs who won just one? I can't even remember many. Dallas Clark? Heath Miller?

Even 30-35 years later Brent Jones and Novacek come immediately to mind, but it was a struggle to remember Dallas Clark from 15 years ago, even though Clark was probably a better player than Jones and Novacek.

If that's his exact quote then he's lying.

He did say it and has since doubled down. To some people, having fun is more important than achieving greatness. And to @upstater1 's point they are easily forgotten.

He's a clown, but man he's such a great player.

Gronk in public with kids around at a Las Vegas pool party pulls down his trunks and starts scratching his balls and we're here arguing over what he has to say.

So Bill knew Gronk wasn't happy and tried to trade him but Gronk didn't want to leave? So was he happy or unhappy?

The primary objective BY FAR is winning. There's no way this jackass won't take 4 more rings with a little more grief and hard work. Gronk was a tough SOB who fought his way back from serious injuries throughout his career so it's no wonder he eventually got overwhelmed with Bill's BS. Johnson just sounds soft. And frankly FOS.

He was unhappy here. He also refused to be traded to Detroit. Both are true.

Gronk is the GOAT te. We don't win 6 SBs w/o him.
Like Edelman and Brady( and many others)he was an unselfish warriors who sacrificed his body and his stats for the team,w/o complaint. He brought us all a lot of joy and fun watching him play.
I always liked both on and off the field.
I still do. But this sh.it has gotten old. He's said it a million times. Jeez,Gronk, move on. Get the f over it. Maybe no fun for you but the overwhelming majority of Pats players loved playing for Belichick. That included many stars as well as role players. Cmon, man

Gronk needed to be pushed by BB to be his best and achieve what he did. Of course, nobody likes being pushed. That's it in a nutshell.

Eh, I can't knock him. It probably helped them win, but if it was a pain to deal with then he fan feel that way.

Dude, stop.
Warner was undrafted, but got to see the field
Romo was undrafted but got to see the field
Freaking Taylor Heinicke was undrafted
Purdy was Mr. Irrelevant

Beyond the Bill vs Brady debate...

I don't understand this narrative Brady would have never seen the field at all If he wasn't a Patriot. It's really weird and desperate and horribly inaccurate.
Jesus, the reactivity here is amazing. I'm not in a Brady vs. Bill debate, I just don't care about that. I've not said he wouldn't have seen the field if he wasn't a Patriot. Please keep me out of the tribal BS. I'm just talking about how the NFL, and most professions, work.

Bill has a massive ego, he wants all the winning to be about him and the name of his boat. Elite players like Gronk and Brady threatened his ego. It's no coincidence he tried to trade Gronk to a garbage franchise and he started ****ing around with Brady as soon as 2014. Yet he propping up yes men (and far less impactful players) like McCourty and Slater. The irony is that Bill's head coaching career is the ultimate example of winning or losing depending on the most elite player in the history of the league.

An interesting comparison is Chris Long. Comes here for a year admittedly looking for a ring. Gets his ring, gets offered a 2nd year, says nope, I got my ring and I don't like doing grunt work, I'd rather do the flashy pass rusher stuff instead. Moves on to Philly, contributes again to their SB effort against us. Doesn't need to cling to negative energy to prop himself up. Says he wanted something different, moves on and continues to excel. If anything, when asked he debunks the "no fun" comments:

Cripes almighty. BB "****ed around" with Brady and Gronk because of his massive ego and the name of his boat? Pure fanboy conjecture best reserved for the Tampa Bay ghetto.

To be honest, his meathead act wore thin on me years ago when he was with the Pats still. He acts like a Fu@@ing child.
I made the same comments - and yes I did it while he was still here.

If he wasn't a phenomenally talented world class athlete, we would look at his routine as a 33 year old frat boy as being pathetic.
