Gronkowski Apologizes, Ready for Pittsburgh

Has anyone come up with a rational reason why Gronk was apparently told that a publi apology was necessary?

Is it really a patriot team requirement that a player not take such pictures?

mankins called Kraft a liar. I'd make him apologize in public too. All Gronk did was post a pic of a girl wearing his jersey.

Now I do agree the organization probably told him to address the issue, but I seriously doubt Kraft did it to "flex his power".

Gronk is Kraft's employee, and he was stupid enough to represent himself with essentially a company logo in a foolish way, that's not good for business. I bet if you were to ask Bruschi, Vrabel, and Troy Brown they'd agree that players should be keeping their private lives private. That kind of thing can very easily become a team distraction, as they suddenly find themselves hounded by the media looking for a juicy story.

I don't care if Gronk shags 100 pornstars/week on his own time, he shouldnt be posting pictures online like that. So either Gronk didnt think or he did and dismissed the potential effect on his team, which demonstrates selfishness, I doubt this went over well with BB.

The reason why Gronk made a public apology was because BB/Kraft is trying to send a message to the rest of the team about what he expects.

1) Oh, I didn’t know Gronk had 0 control over that situation. It’s the responsibility of the player to NOT put themselves in a compromised position, if someone takes a pic of them they should assume it’ll make its way online.

1.) My comments were directed towards your comments, and not to you personally.

First, the notion that people have control over other people's pictures as a general rule is asinine. Feel free to ask any celebrity about that once they've dealt with the Enquirer or the like. In this case, it was a picture with a woman in a Patriots jersey. It was nothing more than that. Hell, that picture was less embarrassing to the Patriots than the Brady/goat picture.

Second, telling people who they can take pictures with in their off-time is NOT something organizations are generally entitled to do. It shouldn't have taken any response for you to know that.

Then again, you should have known that before making your post in the first place.

Gronk chose to pose topless with a pornstar wearing a Pats jersey, that's embarassing and he should have known better, it WAS something he could have controlled.

If you think that doing embarassing stuff won't incur the wrath of the organization you work for I have a brudge to sell you, they won't specifically list that when they discipline you but pretty much every employee is guilty of various infractions that they could be disciplined for, this is how people get fired in the real world.

That said, they wouldnt be not telling Gronk he can't hang out with pornstars, only not to BROADCAST it online. Then again, you should have known that before making your post in the first place
