Gronk wanted ONLY to stay Pat

Yep. We're probably too close to it, and too afraid of being dismissed as rabid fanboys, to realize and articulate just what a remarkable run this has been. I'm not surprised that a guy mid-career would be willing to sacrifice something to run out his string here.

To be honest, I have a lot of doubts about the value, role and proper place of football in society, particularly in our educational system. I have a feeling that once this Pats' run is over, I might have to rethink my attitude toward the game. It is damaging to the players physically, and the old idea that "sports builds character" seems increasingly obtuse. Enjoy the rest of your career, Gronk. I will. Then we'll see.

I believe this report.

Ever since the SB loss Gronk had been very ambivalent about his standing with the team. It may have been a passive aggressive tactic for more $. It slso could have been he was just cooked from another year in the BB meatgrinder. Maybe the concussion got him thinking about his life after football. Whatever the reason , I'm glad Gronk is here and ready to go as they'll need him more than ever

Sounds great to me. I never wanted him to get traded but always felt like BB would do just that either this or the next offseason since his "next contract" could be pretty large and they could still get some return for him.

If he stays as long as Brady is around we are in for an epic final chapter.

I’ll tell you one thing. I’m real glad this did not happen. I’d have flipped

Gonk is a gawd in NE on par with the likes of Bird, Brady, Orr and Yaz.

You dont screw that up and leave if you have any sense.

So, what was the plan? Trade off every target brady has , get rid of lewis. I don’t understand but it feels strange in that there is no sense in gutting an entire team. There’s too much unknown things to say. As insane as the off season was, I don’t want to think what it would be like around here if gronk was traded around the time everyone else left

Looks like I was wrong about that one. I was in the camp thinking Brady blocked the trade but it was Gronk himself.

And I’d like to know why the f**k the Pats would even consider trading him? Glad Gronk talked some sense into them.

I am not sure how much this type of report is "enhanced". So much wiggle room in this kind of report. Especially on the 1st day of a new season. I am sure Gronk wanted to stay. Were the Bears offering Gronk "Kalil Mack" money and he turned that down?

Sure makes Gronk look like a hero. Was the anonymous source Gronk's agent?

Actually it's not just about staying with the Pats, but also catching passes from only Tom Brady.

Big difference there.

This means that when Brady is done, Gronk is done as well.

I will think about it after I cry my eyes out. I guess I won't watch any more football cuz I have no eyes.
