Red Bull and hard alcohol ... not a good combination.

The waitress sure made off like a bandit with that $1,400 tip.
Yeah, some bandit - less than 15%...

Its an automatic 20% tip.

BTW, Reiss is saying that Gronk is going to be doing interviews at the Oscars. I just might have to watch.

It Is What It Is » Rob Gronkowski set to work as reporter at Oscars

Rob Gronkowski has had an eventful offseason, but it appears he’s got some more sedate activity lined up for later this month when he’ll hit the red carpet at the Academy Awards. The Patriots tight end has been enlisted as a correspondent for the “Rich Eisen Podcast” on NFL.com. (Former Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward did the honors last season.) The Oscars are set to take place on Feb. 24 in Los Angeles.

And here is how the same information is being reported outside of New England:

Gronk to work the red carpet at Oscars | Yardbarker.com

If the events of the past few weeks are any indication — not to mention every classic Ron Gronkowski moment from the past few years – all signs are pointing to the inevitable certainty that we are witnessing the gestational stages of “Summer of Gronk 2: Electric Boogaloo.” And now it has been announced that New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski — who should have Poison’s “Nothin’ but a Good Time” played whenever he enters a room — will be serving as the Oscars Red Carpet correspondent for the Rich Eisen’s podcast. Yeah, this could either go brilliantly or be a complete train wreck. Either way, it cannot be disputed that it will be entertaining.

Not a good combination? That's an extremely common drink on the bar/club scene. I think I had four doubles of exactly that last Friday. Would be more except that I'm primarily a whiskey drinker. Not a big deal at all; the tab's only what it is because getting premium vodka bottle service costs a fortune in night clubs. Also because it appears that he's in Vegas (unless there's another Encore that I'm not aware of), which adds even more of a premium to the bill.

Caffeine and alcohol is a potentially deadly combination. Caffeine mitigates the immediate effects of alcohol so people drink more unaware of how high their blood-alcohol level is getting. Then when the caffeine wears off extreme drunkenness ensues. Some states have banned the sale of alcoholic drinks containing caffeine.

It's SUPPOSED to be a train wreck, that's why they're doing it.

According to the 5 o'clock news, everything ever is a potentially deadly combination. If you think that Gronk, of all people, is at risk of drinking himself to alcohol poisoning and death because he had a few red bulls, then I really don't know what to tell you. He isn't some 18 year old college freshman.

Personally, in the aforementioned 'last Friday', I woke up the following day well-rested, hydrated, and with no hangover at all. You've been sold a bill of goods by the moral panic committee if you believe that there's a real danger to even the average drinker here.

This should be Epic! I never watch this Oscar back patting extravaganza stuff but might have to soil my DVR with it as an exception. Then again, there's youtube. You guys will post the links, right?

Yes, you're right about the auto 20%. My mistake. I still wouldn't refer to 20% as "making out like a bandit." Now, 50% would make her Pancho Villa's sidekick...

College aged kids don't need caffeine to mitigate the immediate effects of alcohol to help them binge drink. That's just what they do. Pretty much every mix drink you find has caffeine in it from somewhere.

It seems like we need to merge this thread with the "Alphonso Denard goes to trial today" thread as both have gotten way off topic.

Ah, the offseason...

Worst thread hijack is on the Glen Ordway thread. Quite strange, even for offseason.
