Globe hit job on BB

You guys can defend your hoodie wearing genius all you want, but it was a fairly classless act. There are security and police on the field to handle the throngs of people. Bill should have let them do their job, instead of putting his hands on a photographer.

It was good of Belicheck to apologize and admit he was wrong, but he never should have done it in the first place.

You guys act like BB's not an a-hole. Everyone knows he's an a-hole. He's just such a good coach that nobody cares. I'm sure if he was the Bolts coach and had brought them three rings, I'd feel the same way. But let's not act like he's Miss Congeniality.

So, based on that opinion I guess it's safe to say that you would not have consentual sex with BB, right?

No one is....this about poor sports reporting and bias in the media. Since you can't read (either) and feel like piling on, STF-up YOU a-hole and beat it back to your SD fan boards.

By wanting to see if he was going to act like a prick again toward one of his former assistants?

So?

You love football which is a contact sport in most places and THAT shove has your panties in a twist?

Here's my letter to McGrory

Dear Brian –

I was just wondering if you’ve ever met Bill Belichick? Do you know that he has the personality of a mop or that he thinks he’s above everyone else or did you just glean that from the unfortunate incident with the photographer?

Did you know that Bill Belichick does a great deal of charity work with local organizations including for Access Sport America, Lazarus House Ministries. That he’s been honorary chairman of the Pawtucket Police Athletic League? You might also want to read this story http://www.projo.com/patriots/content/projo_20060910_10bill.320ce43.html or this one http://www.boston.com/sports/baseba...leman_55_radio_host_had_been_voice_of_browns/

Yup. Bill behaved badly. We expect more from our public figures. But he’s apologized which is a lot more that many public figures would do. I hope you’ve never done anything you’ve later been sorry for.

I can understand why the media doesn't like BB. He's not exactly media friendly. I agree that the article was a little harsh, but BB did sort of act like an ass. It's not like he didn't bring it upon himself.

BB assaulted a photographer because he happened to be in his way. If he was an ordinary citizen, he could have been arrested. It's not the same as a game of football.

Maybe you should worry about the San Diego police blotter a little more. A Who's Who of Charger players.

Here we are, the week before probably our toughest matchup since the 2001 super bowl, and all these idiots can talk about is the coach moving a cameraman out of the way. Bravo, Globe.

Exactly, and then there was the timing of the Asante article.

My letter to Mr. McGrory and the Boston Globe.

"Since your paper has chosen to publicly reprimand Bill Belichick's treatment of a journalist, can the Boston Globe please provide a link of it's condemnation of Ron Borges after his public slapdown of Michael Katz, the wheelchair-bound boxing scribe at a Hopkins/De La Hoya press conference. Thank you in advance for the information that shows equal treatment."
please tell me if you get a response
may I copy this and send it myself?

So could any number of entertainment figures.......if you want to talk about certain teams having players arrested, fine. We haven't gone down THAT road as far as I've seen with any of you visitors from the coast so why be *ss yourself?

We know, he knows, he was wrong to shove the photographer (hence the apology) but thanks for adding to the mountain....

Hmmm... Are you putting this together with the Sunday Asante Samuel article and suggesting the Glib Sports Dept. has an agenda?

I laughed out loud when I first saw BB shove of the photographer. But that whole mid-field scene summed up the supposed Belichick/Mangini feud for me - it was entirely media driven. Dumb article by Brian McGroy of the Globe. I think the final line of his column reveals his agenda:

"What would the guy have done if they lost?"

I also cracked up when I saw that. I was TiVOing the game, so I actually backed up, went into slow motion, and saw the full contact of the guy's camera into his pie-hole.

In truth, the dude WAS blocking Belichick's path a little and if you watch it closely, Belichick kind of puts a hand on his back to move him out of the way, but the photographer is so focused on Mangini and setting up for his handshake/hug shot, that I don't think he really felt it.

Next thing he knows, he gets the Belichick paw in the face!

I think Belichick might have overreacted a bit, but it's really not that big a deal.

I'm glad he apologized, although I don't think it was necessary. That showed some class, though.

Just a funny scene all around to me.

My email to that moron

It’s funny, as I was watching that, I was wondering what the hell all those photographers were doing crowding around the coaches like that, it was moronic.

When Bill shoved that guy, I was shocked, but understood. That was nothing but a paparazzi mob!!!

Your statement that his actions were that of a self important minion, were partially true. That was HIS time, HIS moment, The press had no business acting like a mob just to get the prized picture. Your comment about the camera man just doing his job was a joke, his job was to get the picture without running the moment, which he did by NOT CARING about anything else but getting the picture. If he cared, he would have realized he was standing right in front of Eric and that would put him between the 2 coaches.

I hail from Pittsburgh, but read all the press, the Boston press have been up and down Bill’s back all season, you guys have treated one of the greatest coaches of our time like trash, just so you can sensationalize everything to sell your product, how do you expect him to react to a situation like that.

Now understanding he could have been more graceful, he apologized. Your camera man, understanding he could have also made sure that he wasn’t in the way, excepted the apology. If he didn’t feel that way, he would have allowed the Globe to sensationalized it and try and make the case you are. It’s apparent to everyone, he doesn’t need too but that you do because you’re not creative enough to make your deadline with a column with intelligent substance.

Troll or no, you've hit on the real issue here. There are supposed to be security and stadium personnel directing traffic and clearing paths in that situation. There weren't. Maybe the sheer crush of media over-focused on a friggin' handshake overwhelmed them. Belichick was getting crowded, blocked and shoved and couldn't even reach Mangini. Nobody's "doing his job" by literally standing in front of the coach, blocking his way and preventing the very thing he's supposed to photograph from taking place. Belichick lost his cool, he wishes he hadn't, but the situation was out of control.

BFD. It's not like he Kenny-Rogered the guy. BB was going to take cr@p for the post-game pleasantries no matter what he did. He took the high road with his hug of Mangina, whether it was sincere or not.

He's got his (well-deserved) disdain for the "press" and couldn't give a rat's @$$ what they think. I'm sure he's not losing any sleep over it.
