And, ESPN had a poll tonight on Shula's suggestion of an asterisk by the Pats' record if they go undefeated this year. Results were 62 percent no, 38 percent in favor, with Indiana the only state to vote a majority in Shula's favor. (I wonder if Polian had an autobot going.)

I was really surprised by that vote even if it is just fans who happened to vote. I thought for sure it would go the other way.

just sent this to the link:

We have now added an asterisk to all references to the 1972 Dolphins* on our football website.

The Dolphins violated league rules in obtaining a coach in 1970, and had to forfeit a #1 pick (remember?)

Not to mention the short season, and the weak schedule in which they didnt face one playoff team, nor did they even dominate this weak schedule.

The 1972 Dolphins* season has been permanently tainted by their cheating against league rules.

Don must be worried we are going to go 19-0.

If I gave Don Shula a piece of my mind he'd still only have half a brain.

Do you all want to really know why Don Shula sucks? When I was 8 years old I drew up some football plays and mailed them to him and that POS never wrote me back.

I also wrote a letter to Walter Payton and he wrote me back a personal letter and included an autographed picture of himself.

Shula couldn't hold Sweetness' jockstrap.

This is getting a little ridiculous actually us fans should be thanking good ol Don for keeping the team fired up and hungry and that chip is turning into a boulder as seasons time.
BB is a excellent motivator using the simple they don't think we can were gonna show em we can.
The amazing thing about all this is the team is 9 and 0 in their bye week and we have to look under a rock for any criticism or negativity we can muster.
As a fan I'm still not 100 percent sure if this is real Randy Moss on the Patriots?
I use to think maybe when pigs fly.
Donte Stallworth I remember the messageboard was in shambles he says he signs then it says no he didn't sign yet he's still thinking.
We were going crazy!
Then the posters who said we'd never get Adalius Thomas.
Then of course he was our first free agent signing.
Sammy Morris is a jag why did we get him?
He just looked like a glimpse of number 28 until his injury.
Wes Welker why'd we give up so much to get him?
He's just playing like Wayne Chrebet times 3 that's all.
Sultan of the slot I like to call him.
Then the trade for Randy moss people actually thought that he wouldn't make the team he was washed up, he was a distraction to the team, Reche was better lol.
He's just leading receivers in td's and about to hit 1000 yds.
The trade of picks with the niners only a 4th and a 1st for a 1st in this draft?
It just looks worst case scenario to a be a top 10 pick, actually more so a top 5 ridiculous if you think about it.
Chad Jackson you guy's say bust with some of the posters track record here he might be the next Herman Moore, worst case scenario I'd say Shawn Jefferson.
He's no Tony Simmons that guy couldn't catch a football if it was hanging on his hand by a rope.
I just had to say this team has so far made more sugar out of dookie than anything I ever seen.
Mr Shula of course has gone undefeated and how can we blame this guy?
Who wouldn't want to sustain that record?
I think him questioning the teams accomplishments is just fear and jealousy.
I don't hold it against him one bit, it's just gonna get the guys more pumped to take it one practice, meeting, game at a time as they have since 2000.

Greatest team ever? Hardly!!!

it's also true that with an opponents' winning percentage of .396, the Dolphins' schedule was one of the easiest since 1950.

How easy? Basically, 99 percent of the teams since 1950 had a more difficult season schedule than the 1972 Dolphins. That is a very easy schedule.
:bricks:

Bring on the snowplow!!

I wonder if Shula was on the scheduling committee as well as the competition committee?

*Didn't see your post in the other thread BF*

Hehe. I was thinking...write some nasty reviews on some restaurant websites.

Actually this senile, jealous, living in the past old fart my have done us a favor.

I don't think that BB cared much about breaking their record. But even though his main goal is still another SB win, he will now want to break that record if he feels it won't hurt our chances to win another SB.

Pre Frakin Cisely

And note Bruschi's attitude about it below in my sig.

Just sent mine..............

"Hey Don,

Still smarting over losing the Snow Plow Game? GO PATRIOTS!!!!!"

I just wrote him - he should be ashamed of himself. It's easy to see through his intensions. He's still bitter about that snow plow incident and the fact that an undefeated Patriots team will dwarf his 72 Dolphins.

I find it almost comical that he still cares this much about it.

The 72 Dolphins are pathetic. Want to talk about class and sportsmanship, these guys actively and openly root against any and all opponents who jeopardize their stupid little record. What a bunch of tools. If Brady comes near Manning's TD record, Manning will act classy about it - and hey, I don't like Manning, but I gotta respect the fact that this guy is going to pay Brady his dues IF and when Brady passes that record. Deep down, sure, Manning wants that record, but he'll be a man about it. Can't say that about Shula and the 72 Phins.

Now I do hope the Pats go undefeated, I didn't give a shyt about it a day ago, but I'd love to shut up these old, senile fools so they can die unhappy and miserable....OK, that final part was a little extreme

Is it any wonder the Pats are trying to score a lot of points, with idiots mouthing off this crap.

What I love are the idiots in the media who accuse the pats of "running up the score" who also are fueling this asterisk talk. Do they not see the irony?

the only asterisk added to a perfect season will be to miami's after they go 0 & 16 this year. one cancels the other
