That occurred to me before the punt but after the punt, the FG attempt would have been too far. It would have been a 75 yarder. The clock would certainly have run out, but I guess Belichick was worried about a return, because the defense can return it if it is short.
Yeah you can return em is the thing. Plus its a play that won't work and you are just flat out of rolling would of felt odd momentum wise to try it right there I think.
