Here is a thought question.

Of all the teams who drafted a QB in the 1st round in 2024, which would consider QB if they had the top or very high pick in 2026?
Good question, I think right now the answer would be Atlanta (even before Penix's injury), Minnesota and maybe Washington (only because of injuries). I think the Pats, Bears and Broncos are happy enough with their QB, I think that Washington is happy with Daniels but the injuries are concerning.

to your first point: we’ve already seen the golden age of QB play. I feel lucky to have experienced it
Me too. Bart Starr was one for the ages! And then he was eclipsed by Joe Montana. Who’d have thought it possible?

yeah. I was talking about QBs from around the mid 2000s till the late 2010s or so

the big 4 of
Brady
Manning
Rodgers
Brees

then you had
Roethlisberger
Rivers
Ryan
Wilson
Stafford
late career Favre with 2 great seasons in 2007 and 2009
late career Warner with 2 great seasons in 2008 and 2009

even Carson Palmer was MVP worthy in 2005 and 2015
Ever heard the term “recency bias “?

I clocked 10 seconds it took him to start running from the Steelers 27 yard line to the Browns end zone. Browns players looked like they gave up.
It's not like he ran it in straight ahead, he made some really nifty moves.

Did you see the ol' Slow Euro he did at the end of the run? Haven't seen that one in awhile. Pretty nifty.

New report on Penix looking like season ending knee injury. His history with injuries in college was a red flag and now he can't finish year 1 as starter.

That's too bad - he was looking OK skill wise and while lots of guys have suffered injuries, yeah, his history isn't great

I hope he makes it back and can remain healthy because he can be part of what is shaping up to be a GREAT crop of young QBs, to go along with the "old" guys like Mahomes, Jackson and Allen! (Scary to think these guys are just in their prime)

Quality football requires quality QBs and while some years have been hit or miss, the strong 2024 class and expected 2026 class could ensure that every team (except the Jets) have a good QB!

Just think of the NFL right now without Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, Drake Maye, Michael Penix Jr., J.J. McCarthy, and Bo Nix - and now some of the more disappointing guys seem to be turning the corner like Mac Jones, Trevor Lawrence, Daniel Jones and Bryce Young, giving hope that some of the other young mediocre QBs might get better too.

Too soon to tell on the Cam Wards and Jaxon Darts out there but they could be decent.

And with a decent QB draft class next year maybe we'll actually see the Saints, Jets, Browns, Raiders, and Rams add a decent QB or trade for a decent backup like Mac. Well not the Jets - and the Fins might draft but they'll still play Tua for next season given what they're paying him right now.

I'm all for seeing the Pats dominate but I can't stand the type of bad sloppy football with mediocre QBs elsewhere - things are getting a LOT better in that respect throughout the NFL - wait for Goodell to screw it up.

Has to be Penix given the injury although maybe McCarthy - obviously too soon to say

Did you all see those Bengals OL-Men after the play?? They make Michael Onwenu look like Usain Bolt. What a bunch of uninspired guys: they already mailed the season in.

IMO the team to beat is the Rams.

That defensive front is easily the best in the league. They are constantly in the QBs face and they are deep enough to rotate guys in and out.

Offensively I think Stafford is the MVP and Puka Nacua makes them very hard to stop on 3rd down.

Maye's turnaround for the Pats puts him in the drivers seat if the success continues but the Rams are playing good football - low points allowed - and I see them in the SB as well.

Yeah, that was pretty smooth.

Somewhere Anthony Munoz wept after watching that
