Been enjoying the beginning to Vinatieri's Colts career?

1. Successful onside kick.
2. Touchback deep into endzone.
3. 53 yard FG

Yeah, his leg looks shot.

:rocker:
Love those Colts fans celebrating a preseason opening drive. Dungy sure looked proud of himself for that onside kick stunt. Nice. Let's see if he can outcoach Belichick when it counts.

I dunno, Cassel is problably better but I havent heard much POSITIVE about him from training camp.
The difference is that we have a much stronger defense and likely a stronger running game that we can lean on if our QB goes down. And there's actually been plenty of positive talk about Cassel, it's just been offset by some much more average days. I don't think he's had a bad camp, he just hasn't had a kick ass one.

Colts backups dont look very good at all. DB's getting a bunch of Pass Interferences...

39 seconds into pre-season and the words terrible and jim haslett are used together in a sentence for the first time
Haslett was a goof of a head coach, but I like what he's doin' on defense. I think his D is going to be pretty strong.

And wow, Jackson is impressive, as have been the holes the Rams Oline have opened up.

Almost as much as I've been enjoying that stunning running attack. Thank god you guys won't miss James.

Rhodes didnt do anything. I thought Addai's best run went for 3 yards!

after that first series, they did start showing better...but i found it humorous how quickly the nfl pundits jumped all over him...

Now that Goodwin has been cut by the Colts I can tell the story. My co-workers nephew was signed by the Colts as an UDFA, right after the draft. He was cut the day before camp started during the time that Polian was complaining about the rookie pool. Polian signed all of his draft picks but cut Goodwin who most thought would make the team, Harrison gave him a lease for a condo because he was sure that Goodwin would make the team.

Now Addai was Goodwin's roommate during the offseason and on several occasions he told my buddy that Addai was an idiot and couldn't figure out the playbook. Goodwin would tutor him as often as he could but said that Addai will only make it through his rookie season because of his talent, not his dedication or intelligence.

Now I find it ironic that the team has gone out of its way to tell the media that Addai has been brilliant and how he has picked up the offense.

Don't kill me on this I am only passing on the info that I have recieved from a friend. What is interesting is that the Colts have gone out of their way to give the media the exact opposite information. Not sure what the truth is but I figured I would share my limited NFL insider knowledge and thoughts with the rest of you.

Thanks Mgcolby, I'll take your info over what comes over the tube. Kind of like when an announcer says, I had dinner with so and so the other night and he said................total bs.

Yeh, and at the beginning of the broadcast it was reported the Colts defensive coaches said he was starting to get a handle on the playbook, while the offensive coaches were raving about how well he was doing.

Mildly amusing then, pertinent now given Mgc's scoop.

I missed the defensive coaches quotes, but I heard the gushing over his ability to pick up the offense.

For the record my friend is a Steelers fan and hates the Colts as much as we do. I am doubly dissapointed because I would have had 4 tickets for the Colts game sitting in the Colt's family section on Nov 5th.

Bad news for Colts: Mungro and Chapman looked better than Rhodes and Addai.

When better to practice it than the preseason? It's not like it counts.
It's teh Colts time to shine, that's for sure.

Vinatieri:

"Coming to the Colts was an easy decision, they've done everything right. Being here under...under...uhh..uhh...well, it's been great."

"This will be better than playing under crappy field conditions."

"The Pats have all the talent they need."

I had to change the channel during his little interview.

F**k you FORMER KICKER. :rocker:

Wow, talk about living in the past.

You can't stop any team with a QB.

Your defense minus Bruschi and Harrison was one of the worst I've ever seen. Both of those guys are old. Bruschi has a broken wrist and Harrison is trying to come back from a catastrophic knee injury.

McGinnest is gone.

The Colts had the #2 defense in football.

#2 defense that allowed the most yards I think of any team in the NFL. Wow amazing. It shows that Dungy didnt trust his defense starting with an onside kick.

Your defense problably wont look at all good if the injuries continue like the Pats had.

I think Edge was a catastrophic loss looking at how none of the Colts RB's could do anything against one of the worst ranked rush defenses from last year...

Care to compare the rankings of the teams the Pats played vs the teams the Colts played?

I won't bring the injuries into the mix either.

But.. After tonight do you feel that the Colt's could win the SuperBowl with 40+ starters this year let alone back to back SuperBowls and then get to the divisional round the third year in a row of 40+ starters?

I don't!

Sigh. Talk about posts that are totally unrespondable to. Our D getting called out by Colts fans . . . that would be like a Bears fan saying your QB sucks.

Really? 'Cause I'm pretty sure we beat the jags 28-3 without either of those guys. Weird. Oh, and the Steelers earlier in the year without both of them AND without Seymour. Huh. Wow.

Try research, juvie.

The only thing you can say about the preseason is that it is the preseason. While you really don't want to lose, most teams aren't truly playing to win, unless it's close at the end. The preseason is used to grade guys in certain situations, many of which won't see the field except for special teams during the regular season. The Colts went 0-5 in the preseason last year then rattled off 13 wins in a row. The preseason is just that...
