Was there a rule about videotaping signals passed between 1992 and 2001 that we don't know about? From listening to John Madden's comments from 1992, videotaping signals appears to be standard operating procedure.

The frustrating thing about this is that JJ went on record circa 2007 as saying that all teams do/did this yet the meme from the BSPN/NYJFL is that the Patriots are the only team doing this.

I mean, you have got to be living in a fantasy never-land to believe that the other 31 teams do not try to get competitive advantages by any means necessary (e.g. gamesmanship) by deploying similar tactics.

To be fair, Cowher never said he taped, he just had people trying to steal signals other ways.

Whereas Jimmy did say he taped.

The latter can be used to defend the videotaping allegations. The former just falls in the category of everybody is trying to steal signals somehow.
